Like the others, Williams isn't likely to fall past 3.  If it weren't for the demand at QB, he'd go first just as they did.

Jadaveon Clowney and Mario Williams were three times the prospects and three times the athlete that leonard Williams is.  Mario Williams ran 4.66 at three pounds heavier than Leonard Williams at the combine and destroyed him in every agility test. 

 

When you have a prospect that runs 4.97 jumps less than 30 inches and less than 9' in the broad jump he doesn't qualify for PLANET THEORY.  not to mention that those two prospects were coveted for their ability to impact the premium down third down.  Leonard Williams weakness is production against the pass and on third down.  The comparison is just plain silly.

He'll get some sacks, but that's not his strength. I don't see how the Jags can possibly draft him after bringing in Odrick at $8.5M per year. They play the same position.

You could move him inside, but then you'd have another Senderrick Marks type.

 

My issue with him isn't so much his pass rush, but he doesn't seem to protect his legs well.

 

Maybe that can be cured with coaching...but it is a concern of mine.

Planet Theory is that there's not enough athletic big guys. Just because Williams isn't the freak athlete that Clowney, Williams, and Peppers were doesn't mean he doesn't qualify.

Williams can play ANYWHERE on the line with the chance to be elite ANYWHERE he plays.

 

That type of versatility and the ability to make the players around him better are exactly what this team needs.

exactly. if the guy comes in and has an impact on the game like ngata had with the rest of the pieces we have on defense... clemons or branch will look a whole lot better.

Like 80% of the draftniks. Could be wrong, we'll see...but his profile is much more along the lines of an Odrick/Jordan/Tyson Jackson than it is a Suh/McCoy.

Yeah Suh shouldn't have been included, but my point remains. You can be considered amount the best DTs even if you don't rush the passer at an elite level.

 

I'm not advocating taking LW #3 overall, but I won't be too dissappointed if they do.

Of course you would.  That's why all this dumping on Williams is a complete joke.  No matter what their criticisms are of him, no matter how petty, the vast majority still consider Williams the best player in the draft.
