Jags sign WR Bryan Waters!
|
I've never heard of him, but he does have the Seattle connection, so I guess that's how he ended up here. He may only be training camp fodder, I don't know... but he will get his chance to impress the coaches so lets see what happens.

Quote:that's usually what UDFAs are for. im thinking they're giving Walters a legit shot to be the punt returner. He's not super fast but he was reliable for Seattle. If I recall correctly, Bryan Walters replaced Earl Thomas as the Seahawks primary Punt Returner after Thomas struggled in that role in the regular season opener vs. the Packers. At that point, reliability on Punt Returns became more important to Pete Carroll than potential big play capability.

He caught 6 passes for 57 yards, clearly an upgrade over Ace Sanders who also caught 6 passes but for only 55 yards. Those two yards are easily worth the salary difference between a 5th year veteran vs. a 3rd year rookie contract.im just curious, do he have any kickoff returns for td?

Yes, Thomas had a fumble in that game vs the Packers and Carroll decided it's better for Thomas to focus playing on defense. Quote:“I just noticed in the game that he wants to do so well that his focus is challenged,” Carroll told reporters. “And I’d rather have his focus playing at safety. So after the long experiment and the time that we spent doing it, he’s not doing it.” http://q13fox.com/2014/09/10/pete-carrol...ts-is-over We show less advertisements to registered users. Didnt really hear much about Waters at all during camp. Quote:He seems like he's probably getting a roster spot with Benn hurt.Wasn't Walters brought in as a punt returner first, receiver second? I think Benn's injury would open the door more for a guy like Doss or Sterling.

With Benn either PUP or IR, the 5th WR job is wide open.
Walters, Sterling, Doss, Washington, or Copeland? ...oooo, good question. Doss and Copeland have shown me nothing. Sterling, similarly has shown nothing, but is a practice squad developmental guy to me. Washington has been a nice target getting open and made some catches. Walters has great hands and has more special teams value. In a close nod, I would give it to Walters for the special teams value for a #5 WR.
Quote:With Benn either PUP or IR, the 5th WR job is wide open. I wonder if Sterling stays "injured" all preseason and doesn't play a game if it will be easier to sneak him onto the PS. Washington, Copeland, and Doss haven't showed anything in the games yet. Bryan may just sneak into the team.
