Absolutely, if the Jaguars played a COLLEGE schedule. They went 9-4 playing an ACC schedule. Any COLLEGE team with that much NFL talent should get to 10 wins at least once during those players' careers. They haven't had a 10-win season since 2003. Three of the past four years they had 7 wins or fewer. They've underperformed. And let me just say that being accused of ignorance by you is special.

Mike Mayock says he's the most explosive TE in the draft and expects Warford to run a 4.65. Meanwhile, nfldraftscout expects a 4.87. Hmmmm. That's a pretty big gap. It will be interesting to see him run at the Combine - both the 40 time and the 10 and 20 yard split times.

Not being inside that program it's hard to say, but from my experience watching them they often have the best athletes on the field but are undisciplined. Personally I think it has to do with the culture down there, but coaching certainly plays a part.

01/22/15 - 2015 Senior Bowl, Wednesday: Hurricane watch during South practice...The Miami football program has been mediocre in recent years, but the Hurricanes continue to pump out NFL talent, including tight end Clive Walford, wide receiver Phillip Dorsett, cornerback Ladarius Gunter and middle linebacker Denzel Perryman on the South squad at the Senior Bowl. And during Wednesday's practice, that talent shined bright. A prospect who stole the show during South practice, Walford routinely drew praise from the Jaguars coaching staff for his routes, athleticism and ability to finish at the catch point. He has an easy release off the line of scrimmage with the route acceleration to threaten the seam and be a downfield target. Warford doesn't have an elite frame for the position, but he knows how to use his size to shield defenders from the ball and create mismatches down the field. The route he runs at 2:00 is just awesome. Sets up the db perfectly. Warford would be a great second round pick and would become a great security blanket for Bortles.

That was a great route. He did some decent things as a blocker too.

 

Warford would be a nice consolation prize if Maxx Williams is gone, but I'd prefer to trade back and maybe get an extra 4th rounder. With Funchess and Williams ranked ahead, I see Warford fitting in the mid to late 2nd. Looking back at the last 10 drafts, the earliest that the first 3 TE's have been selected was back in 2006, when Vernon Davis went 6th, we took Marcedes 28th, and Joe Klopfenstein went 46th. Most years the 3rd TE off the board didn't happen until the early 3rd round. There may be something to those numbers.

I agree that he would be a good consolation prize to Maxx Williams. I'm on the Williams and Willams bandwagon (leonard then Maxx.) Tight end is such an important position for a young qb. It presents an automatic mismatch if your te is elite.

I like him a lot. He can join Linder, Henderson, and Hurns as Miami alumni that do better in the NFL than in college.
