Or a sign the Jags will be Short one Cecil next year.

LOL.  I see what you did there.  I think they picked him up as a camp body.  He can return punts too so maybe with Cecil and Ace probably not coming back, they need some competition.  I think we still have Tandon Doss too who was IR'ed this year.

Interesting signing. Not that we signed Benn, but that...he was given a 2 year contract. Curious what the details for that contract is. Camp fodder typically don't get 2 year deals.

You know a contact can be terminated at any time right? I doubt he received anything of significance when he signed other than a chance to compete for a roster spot.

Why do you guys think Ace is out? He hasnt been able to be used this year. He will be here at least one more year.

If you think I offended you, don't worry, I meant to. #facts

I do...which is why I said "I wonder what the details for that contract". Doss was also signed to a 2 year deal, and he was penciled in as a PR by most.

Not for nothing but this was a guy that was sought after by Chip Kelly. Essentially he was an ACL tear away from a possible breakout year. The Eagles not only traded for him they extended his contract, which clearly shows that Kelly thought enough of him to keep him around. Also very similar build to Blackmon which doesn't hurt.

Sure they do. UDFAs get three-year contracts by default. The Jags could have signed Benn to a 50-year contract and still viewed him as camp fodder; it's the signing bonus (or utter lack thereof) that tells you what a team thinks of a guy, and I'd be surprised if Benn received one at all.

He hasn't developed as expected. He'll face tough competition for his roster spot this year from street acquisitions like Benn, possibly a draft choice as well.

Not gonna start a thread about it but it is "our" off season so munch on this.

Maybe Benn and Dimke are horrible players that should not be in the league.

What if $had Khan wanted to reward a couple of the players that were a part of the program that he championed before buying the Jags.

Arrelius Benn - Ben played three seasons at Illinois where he... Bla bla bla

Derek Dimke - Played collegiately at Illinois and is.... Bla bla bla

Yes this is crazy, no I am not serious but making something out of nothing can be fun.

Why does everyone want to get rid of Shorts?

He had the highest QB rating in the league.

Benn is on the cheap, and is an upgrade to the back end of the WR roster if he can get healthy.  Good no risk signing.

I feel sorry for these young guys that suffer significant issues early in their developing career (ACL, knee, concussion...a trifecta of ouches).
