"The Jaguars had Dak Prescott as high on their board as anybody."

Quote:Dangit, Dak would have led the Jags to the Playoffs if the Jags drafted him before the Cowboys.

No he wouldn't. Dak was never supposed to play in his rookie season. I don't know how people forget that.

If Bortles got hurt or the coaching staff got the balls to bench Bortles, Dak would have went in and led the Jags to the Playoffs.

Bortles did get hurt and missed only one snap all season. You can throw that idea out the window.

Figured I'd throw this out here and see where it goes.

I feel like Jerry Trolls us with his 'boards' remember that 'Cowboys board' that had Alualu in the first round that everyone was using to justify Gene. I think Jerry has a mole, and is just making fun of us at this point.

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster

If Blake Bortles did not slack off on mechanics in the offseason, nobody would talk about wanting him to be benched. Your comment implies you did not watch him play all of 2015 because he clearly regressed after being one of the leading quarterbacks, just like Cam Newton.

Okay but he did slack off on his mechanics. So we did talk about him being benched. Thats reality.

I said what if he didn't. Then nobody would wish the Jaguars drafted Dak Prescott. I recommend looking at your own mirror, not the rear view one.

How come Aaron Rodgers throwing motion looks the same every season.

Quote:The Cowboys only wanted Connor Cook because the Broncos knew they wanted Paxton Lynch and traded up to snag him. Maybe the Raiders traded up for the same reason?

It was very surprising to most people that follow the NFL Draft process that Connor Cook was still available in Round 4.   Even with Derek Carr on the Raiders roster,  they clearly felt that Cook had much higher value than 4th Round value,  hence they decided to trade up for them.

Connor Cook was not drafted to be Derek Carr's successor, obviously. Matt McGloin could move down the depth chart or lose his job during training camp. Time will tell.

During the draft process, scouts and executives reportedly found some character issues. He was not a team captain, wanted to be famous, and declined to play in the Senior Bowl. That probably sunk him.

Because he's, you know, a natural thrower of the football, one that even uses his dominant hand to throw said footballs.

I can't believe we're hitching our wagon to the [BLEEP] that is Bortles, but the heck with it. Hell be gone in 3 years and there's plenty of rum to keep me going til then.

Yep nothing at all...besides that while playoff record thing. But I think he's on the upside finally with that

The "whole playoff record thing" is on Marvin Lewis. First it was Carson Palmer and Jon Kitna, then Andy Dalton, then A.J. McCarron.

Being that Connor Cook didn't have any criminal incidents:  Despite the other character issue questions that were brought up by some,  it was still shocking that he lasted to the 4th Round of the draft.   The Raiders recognized value at the most important position,  which is a credit to GM Reggie McKenzie.

Especially after reports came out the Cowboys wanted him. If Connor Cook was a better prospect than Dak Prescott, the Cowboys should have selected him when he was available. I saw enough of Cook at Michigan State to know he was not a fourth round prospect. However, because the Raiders already had Derek Carr, I was surprised they traded up for a quarterback.
