You sure about that? I mean he did pick Gabbert over Watt. Alualu over tons of other people. A punter in the 3rd round. Gene loved being the 'smartest guy in the room.' The only no brainer pick he did was Blackmon, when Khan forced him, and ironically that failed too. I almost think Gene wanted to be contrarian just for the sake of being that way.

 

Especially when I think of Alualu's draft, I could totally see Gene 'out thinking' the rest of the GMs and going another direction. He would believe he was getting Mario Williams when everyone wanted Reggie Bush. I bet he keeps tabs on every player he drafted and is sitting around telling people 'see see, I was right, this guy IS a starter!'

 

Aside from that, how about the mess Irsay is making of his team. More and more rumors leaking out of his front office. Trying to trade for Sean Payton, Peyton Manning, or Gruden. He has to have ticked off Pagano right now. Poor guy isn't great, but I wouldn't want to work in a situation where my boss was constantly trying to 'upgrade' me. At least he already got an extension out of it.
