*** official fire Jedd Fisch thread ***
|
3rd and 3 yards in the fourth quarter and bortles goes for a home run and throws it to nobody. Fortunately, they got bailed out on the next play because Cleveland fumbled the punt and ultimately the JAGS score. That still does not take away from the absolute bonehead play calling by Fisch. All they had to do was go for the first down and it was probably game over the rest of the way.
Oh well, this is Cleveland and a win is a win. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
so im the only one that see's these screens and quick passes as ways to protect bortles from getting sacked 10 times a game?
do you people not understand that? he took a risk on that 3rd and 2 earlier, where he had been conservative for 6 weeks and look what happened.. a blown assignment leading to a hard hit on bortles and an interception why didn't you people praise fisch there? He called the play you people wanted and you found out why he doesn't do it. personally I think he calls a great game, this O line is terrible and these screens and end arounds are exactly what you need to do keep these defensive lines from absolutely destroying bortles.
Fisch is not the problem. I stand by that. He's not my favorite OC by any stretch, but he's OK. The O-line was the issue until this week, and what do you know? The first and only game we can run behind that line --- we win.
It's youth. Youth at QB. Youth at WR. Youth along the line. It will keep getting better with spurts of total suck. (Like Bortles today) Fisch is fine. He won't play it safe so much when theres more experience out there.
Fisch has gotta go IMO. He can call a play here or there but his whole concept of "muddying" the play chart by being random on down and distance just breeds inconsistency.
3rd and 3? Double move down the field with the D playing off all day. 3rd and 8? Delayed screen with the defense in close man. 5 straight runs and we arrive at 3rd and 4? You guessed it run again. Free Blake Bortles. Quote:Fisch has gotta go IMO. He can call a play here or there but his whole concept of "muddying" the play chart by being random on down and distance just breeds inconsistency. Not that long ago it was "fire Gus" and "fire Dave" too. I doubt you'll hear much from those people now. Give them time.

We won but he still sucks. Next week we will run the ball too much, lose and everyone will be back on the fire Jedd train..... We have a defense We have a franchise QB. Im happy. Lets fire him next week and let him enjoy this
I didnt get to watch this game. Did Gus call time outs while we were driving with momentum? Did he challenge plays that shouldn't be challenged? Did he screw up the end of the half wit dumb clock management?
Quote:agreed.plzz dont try and defend this guy.. our offense is ranked last in most offensive statistics.. His playcalling sucks! How many 3rd and 1's and 3rd and 2's did he fail to pick a solid play.. zero.. defense bailed the jags out not fisch anybody who watched the game knows that.. come on 10 points through 4 quarters against Cleveland. Smh. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

The first and only game we can run behind that line --- we win. I totally agree with that. It's the easiest thing in the world to sit in an armchair and say, "Why didn't we call a different play" when the reality is, we're starting five or six rookies on offense. I repeat, we are starting 5 or 6 rookies on offense. That is unheard of. And I would like to add: here's what Fisch did this week that was a really good idea. Cleveland was playing with a lot of backup players on the defensive line. So the Jaguars lined up almost exclusively with 1 RB, 1 TE, and 3 WRs. This forced Cleveland to line up in the nickle defense almost the entire game. That led to a lot of running lanes for Denard. That's why Fisch is an offensive coordinator and the armchair generals of this message board are not.

Smh. Our defense is (now may be "was") ranked last or next to last in so many defensive stats (except sacks) yet how many times did Cleveland fail to convert on 3rd down yesterday? Based on the fact that up until yesterday, Bortles had the league's highest third down completion percentage, I'm going to guess the poor offensive stats probably can't be blamed on Fisch all by his lonesome. I'm going to guess Henne and our o-line probably had a hand in it. But hey, let's everybody keep acting like this team hasn't improved on both offense and defense since the beginning of the season. Let's act like the offensive and defensive rankings (attributable mostly to our first 3 or 4 games) are absolutely indicative of how the team is currently playing on both sides of the ball. Regarding a handful of posters on this board - you've seriously got to learn to enjoy the good things in life. It's the first win of the season over what has been a pretty decent Browns teams and you can't even enjoy it for 12 hours before finding something to complain about because you're so busy being a "smart" football fan. God forbid, as a fan of the Jags, someone might accuse you of wearing teal-colored glasses. Get over yourself.
“It just shows what kind of team we are. We’re a tough team. We like contact. We’re very physical. We want the issue to be brought to us so we can show people we can stand up to it and overcome it. Seeing that’s just a symbol of our team and who we are.” - Jaguars DT Malik Jackson

They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
I feel that Fisch is learning along with the rest of the team. He's had some great plays and choices and some moronic ones.
The players have to execute the plays too... |
