McCray vs. Gratz

#41

I'm anxious to see how McCray performs this week. I hope he plays well and takes Gratz's spot to be honest. I was tired of seeing Gratz slip/stumble on a route and allow the WR to catch an uncontested ball.

Neither are ideal starters.

Hopefully, Colvin will be a quality corner and be at 100% for next season.

We've still got a lot of work to do on the back end in the offseason.  Cyp can't do or be everything, and he's missed his share of time.  I hope he doesn't end up like Bob Sanders.

I think Gratz can pan out. Just needs a little more work.

His speed rating in Madden is 84. Obviously he can't possibly be fast, or the experts at EA would have given him a speed of 90, duh.

There has never been a more poignant post on this board.

Who overrated who? A lot of us are just saying McCray is an adequate replacement for Gratz. Kid was a late round pick for a reason.

Somewhere up there in GM Heaven, Gene Smith is looking down smiling on McCray.  The only difference is that Gene would have traded his 2014 2nd round selection and picked him in the 3rd round (paranoid that Belichik was going to select him later in the 3rd)

McCray is playing great.

Gratz is just not very good. He doesn't challenge the receivers enough, is always slipping, and always flailing around missing tackles after he's given up a reception.

I really hope Colvin takes this guys job because I'm tired of watching him play.

I would love to see Gratz benched in favor of Mccray and Colvin across Mccray

Gratz is not good, that's all. Just like Cyprien. Bad angles, misses tackles...We need to fix our secondary next offseason.

I saw two bad plays from Gratz and three good ones today.  He's not terrible, but he's been very inconsistent this year and Colvin may be a better option outside at some point.

If I had to rate them in terms Gratz could relate to, Dwayne is a stale piece of Fruit Stripe whereas McCray is the Wrigley factory.

He's not terrible I'm not going that far but he is far from good IMO. Week after week he's not challenging the receivers and giving up easy receptions. When he is in good position the WR usually makes the reception anyway and Gratz is diving at the guy in attempt to make the tackle but is just short. Its extremely frustrating.

Not to mention that it seems like every time a WR runs a curl/dropout, Gratz slips when trying to break on the ball which amounts to an easy reception.

I'm not trying to be a debbie downer here, I was ecstatic we won. Just pointing out what I'm sure others see.

Did they even throw McCray's way today?

We're saying the same thing.  I'm just not as sour on Gratz by a very small margin.  I think he's being coached to play "off" in certain situations. (he steps back just before the snap at times - doesn't on others)

He does slip to0 often when changing direction, though one of those was a slick push-off by Beckham today.

He whiffs too often going for the diving  lower leg wrap up. He's certainly not looking like the long term answer on the outside.

I'd actually love to see them give Ball a two year deal and have Ball/McCray outside with Colvin at Nickel and Gratz for depth.

Only once that I remember specifically, but there were probably a few.
