Aaron Colvin will play this season.

Will Blackmon will be on the roster at this point next year.

He's smallish, looks skinny, coming off an ACL... I just thought in the 4th round picking a player like that was kind of high, especially considering we had huge holes on our offensive line.

Would have rather seen some big guard or another center to come in and compete with the guys.

We'll see.  Hopefully he's great.

Since when has the fourth round been high for a cornerback? That is a position we will need to address when Colvin is healthy enough to play. As the only team so far to give up over 100 points (119 to be exact), we should be worrying about the back end of our defense more than anything else right now.

I don't doubt that, but I bet you will eventually see Colvin tackle the nickel spot.

Colvin is a 6'0 185 pound corner. He will not play nickel. I expect him to only play a few snaps a game once he is healthy. Pretty excited about this guy though.

He's 5'11, he fits the Seattle nickel role (Just like Walter Thurmond). The plan may be for him to eventually replace Ball but first I believe he will handle the Nickle.

Yeah I'm not crazy about him either. fringe first rounder we got because he's injured. I know our corners aren't the best, but that is not the guy I'd peg to be the best by years end.

Well I'm gonna fess up that I've only seen grainy footage of him in a bowl game, and not very much footage at that. It was difficult to see what his skillset was. All I know is that he had the best first day of the senior bowl, in our scheme, and he was projected to go late first or early second. Talent and scheme fit. Add in the fact that he was in the fourth round and it's a good deal. If he doesn't do well its not like we wasted a high pick (aka Claiborne).

That I don't doubt, but Will Blackmon can play all positions on special teams and is one of the veteran leaders on defense. I'd expect him to take a smaller role, but he won't be left off the roster until there's someone better than him at the positions he can play.

I was studying  film of a KSU player by the name of Lockett who played my college team a couple of weeks ago. He was burning this CB for Oklahoma BAD(12 -278-3 )

Yep his name was Colvin

It wasn't until OU put senior cornerback Aaron Colvin on Lockett and turned up its pass-rush that Lockett was held in check to a degree, posting six catches for 69 yards in the second half.

You must've been studying the wrong film. That's a decent statline for a late round cornerback on a potential Biletnikoff winner.

He tore it in the Senior Bowl and already has full strength? Forgive me for being skeptical but I see absolutely no reason to rush him out there.

its a shame that the administrator in this thread would get an attitude and not answer simple questions from a poster who honestly wanted to know something.

There was talk about him potentially being a free safety

If he hadn't have torn his ACL at the senior bowl, he would have been a second round corner.  If he stays healthy and they don't rush him back I'd expect him to compete with Ball for the spot opposite of Gratz.  He was pretty darn good.

That would be good if he could play deep safety well enough to start over Guy/Evans
