It's not a lisp. He sounds like he has food in his mouth.

That's actually a much better way of describing it than a lisp.  Maybe he's like David Lamm and he's got a cigar in his mouth at all times?

 

I can tolerate a lot from play by play guys, but I've never heard someone so strained to sound excited when something good happens.  It's too contrived.

 

If the Jags wanted to have some fun, go after Gene Deckerhoff and bring him to Jacksonville from Tampa.  He's a Jax native, and a terrific play by play guy.

Yeah, I don't think there's a real groundswell of support for Frangie hanging on to this gig beyond this year.

It was such a bad hire to begin with.


My hope is he is replaced and they bring in someone who knows what they're doing.

I've only been in Jax for 3 years, so I'm no Sexton expert. However, with that said, when I did listen to him I was never impressed - in fact, I'm still not as it pertains to his new assignment. Some teams, in all sports, just have that one, special play-by-play guy that reaches legendary status - Sexton isn't one of them. Was Sexton the radio guy from the beginning? For you fans that have been here from the beginning, why did he rub you the wrong way, and why did they make the switch? I will say, that there is plenty of Jags talk all throughout the day, thanks to 1010XL. That's a good thing, exposing the team more and more to the local market. I've heard Frank Frangie on the radio during the week, but not during the Jags' game, so I can't give an opinion of his skills at that job.

Frangie is not good. It is painful listening to him. He sounds like a drunk the way he slurs his words and makes weird sounds. Sexton got the job done as play by play and is much better than Frangie imo.


I do enjoy our radio shows. The Drill is pretty good.

I think it was a hire based on immediate need and not what was best. Sexton landed the gig with the team pretty close to the start of football. There probably weren't a ton of options, so they gave Frangie the gig to have a body in the booth. He'll be replaced next year. He's only got a 1 year deal.

They'll replace him for 2015, IMO. He was selected because of his availability and because the timing demanded it once Sexton was offered the digital gig with the Jags.  Khan will tolerate the weak play by play for this year and then find the right guy next year.

So a few games in to the season and I think I prefer Sexton over Frangie.  Frangie shows no emotion when calling the games....I know Sexton got a bad rap for sometimes being over the top on almost every play, but we have the other extreme now.

 

What say you?  Who do you like better Frangie or Sexton?

Sexton was bad, Frangie is worst. He gets so excited on exciting plays its like he is slurring everything cant even understand what he is saying.

It was my first week listening to frangie. As a professional broadcaster they could get SO much better. Sexton was weak and Frangie sounds tired and has a speech impediment
