For all intents and purposes, they've already won.  Our lives forever changed on 9/11/01.

Because there is change, by no means does it mean they've won. Far from it. 

The losing would be not learning from it. Thinking we are isolated. Thinking bad stuff happens in other places. 

Its not the world we live in, even before the attacks. We stopped being naive. 

Maybe, just maybe we won, by becoming more self aware, and not letting the 3,000+ die in vein.

The pissing contest is wholly unnecessary but there's nothing inherently wrong with discussing the politics of a subject like this. In fact, discussions surrounding events like this are sometimes the most enlightening and important, even if it hurts.

If this had been left in the Sideline (where I presume it was started - I wasn't online until after it had been moved) and the political discussion still happened, I'd be 100% with you.
