Trade idea?

#41

Quote: why not make this trade now to protect bortles next year.  wont matter if shorts is playing this year.  we are already tanking this year with henne anyway.  might as well go all in and mortgage this year off to be better next year.  plus hurns and lee and robinson will all have a year of experience, by the time we are trying to win anyway.

Seems like more people are coming around

Quote:LOL, so just because they will be game planned for means that they will be crap? They can also game plan for Shorts too...

You're desperately trying to make an argument to keep Shorts at all costs and you're simply flailing.
There's zero desperation on my part.

Keep flailing away, diva.

Shorts is the only receiver on the active roster who has seen just about every possible defensive scheme this team could face. You think a rookie can step in and magically perform from the start, feel free to point out how that has worked in the past for receivers on this roster in the past, even with the almighty Jerry Sullivan coaching them.

When the team doesn't trade Shorts, that gives you the kind of ammunition you need to get the attention you crave.  They're not going to trade him, so you're just laying the groundwork for your typical "I know better than anyone" schtick.  It's a wonder you're still scraping to get by with all this self proclaimed football expertise you have bouncing around in that big brain of yours.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:I wouldn't trade Shorts for Boone but I would love to trade for Boone. Something like a 4th rounder would be awesome. I doubt the 49ers plan on trading him anyway.
Agreed, but then you're going to have to figure out whether you want to make Boone the highest paid guard in the league, because that's what you'll need to do.  I don't think he's worth that kind of coin.

Or you've just created a few friends to back you up.  When he isn't traded, you'll need them to help you continue this.

Quote:Yeah, he really looked explosive last year...

Face it without Blackmon on the other side taking focus away, Shorts is nothing but an average WR. Totally replaceable. Not worth paying large coin for on his 2nd contract.

Boone, who is a standout at his position would help out the team much more than Short's presence will. We already have WR on the roster who can adequately replace Shorts' production. Boone would be far & away better than any interior lineman we have.

You keep saying he's going to get a big contract as if it's fact. What lead you to that conclusion?

That big brain of his says so.  Facts don't matter. There's nothing to support it beyond his opinion, and we all know that in the glittery world of the diva, opinion is fact.

I dunno, the 49ers actually have had a pretty stout running attack over the past several seasons, and I'm sure Boone has been a big part of that.

But Beadles doesn't deserve any credit for protecting Manning.

It's amazing how facts must be twisted to suit your agenda, ain't it diva?

Alex Boone (if you take PFF's averages over the past two years) has been a top 10 guard in the league, he's a mammoth of a human being that consistently creates running lanes and is solid is pass pro. I don't think Cecil Shorts would be enough
in a trade for Alex Boone, I believe Alex is the better player.  If the Jaguars have a chance to trade CSIII for Alex Boone straight up, it's a no brainer, you're essentially improving two positions with one move. I like Cecil, but at the end of the day he's a smallish receiver that doesn't bring a lid lifting element to an offense with a myriad of soft tissue injuries.

Are you new to football?

His rookie contract is expiring. As we saw from the 2nd contracts of players like Riley Cooper of all people, and Decker last year, that gives you an indication of what Shorts will be commanding. Riley Cooper got 5 years/ 25 MIL and 10 guaranteed and is much LESS of a resume than Shorts. So Cooper's contract will only be the extreme bottom of the frame work of a new deal. With the salary cap continuing to rise, so will the contracts. Shorts will probably command something closer to Decker money.

i don't think it's a good idea to trade our only legit veteran and let Bortles and Henne throw to 3 rookies. If this trade were preposed next offseason I think I might consider it. Maybe at the trade deadline when we can see exactly what we have at receiver instead of basing it off a few preseason games.

So wait.  You're negotiating NFL contracts from the kitchen now?

If Shorts is deserving of a big payday, he'll get one from this team or another.  if someone is willing to pay him in the range you suggest, that would be a pretty good indication there are teams out there that think he's worth it.  That kind of dumps a bucket of glittery cold water all over your agenda.

I don't disagree next season.  We SHOULD have Blackmon back at that time, and the rookies will have a year under their belt.  It's idiotic to do it now.

Huh?? Riley Cooper's not worth even close to the money he's getting, neither will Decker be. ....and neither willl Shorts be worth it.
