Patriots asking for a 1st and 4th for Jimmy

#41

Quote:Let's put it this way... for the same price I'd rather have AJ McCarron. Maybe we can talk to the Bengals.

That's fine with me. If you want to go with AJ and a draft pick

Quote:Im taking caldwell and his 90% bust rate over an average game manager that has 2 games experience and a year left on his deal every single time. The fascination among fans with Jimmy is baffling.

what's more fascinating is the hate. I'm not saying you hate him, but I'm also not fascinated. I just know he is your best option to win now. What gets me is that there are a number of fans who actually have more faith in Brandon Allen who can't throw over a school bus.

Quote:Letting the Sam Bradford trade set the market is so stupid too. That trade was based on a different level of need with a much better quarterback.

It's not if you are selling the deal. It's not just Bradford, but also the trades for Wentz and Goff. Remember the Patriots are just setting the bar, they want a 1st and 4th and I think they could get it easily.

AJ McCarron stinks.

If I'm a qb needy team, you have to ask yourself what you would grade Jimmy if he were in the draft. You may actually be getting g a steal if it pans out.

I know I trust someone who has been sitting behind Brady vs someone who has already been poisoned by Bradley and his staff.

He's a poor man's Alex Smith. He's a Chad Henne, a McCown type. If you want to go the draft a QB to develop route, which seems to be fan consensus right now

Exactly. Our 1st is too high to give up with a 4th I think, but I'd give a 2nd and 4th for Jimmy.

You obviously haven't watched much of Brandon Allen. Pretty much all he does is throw deep. The team kept him on the roster all year for a reason, and from what little I have seen I'm more confident with him than any other random late round pick at qb. ...and by late round I mean anything after an early first round pick.

He's definitely better than Glennon.

Man, I gotta disagree on that. I think it was last year I saw a game with McCarron when he started. I want to say it was a playoff game when the Red Rocket was injured. He is just a guy and played terrible.

I have only watched Glennon a few times and remember him being pretty sharp but always thinking he would be broken in half if he got hit.

Just as a thought... might the Chiefs deal Nick Foles for a pick? I can see him in that Fitzpatrick insurance role of backing up Bortles but starting if need be.

Teams and Fans especially hold on to the value of draft picks more than actual player value. It's almost the Schroedinger's cat of draft picks. The pick is only valuable because you don't know what it is. The minute those players get selected they lose value in the mind of fans.

It's simple, forget the picks. Look up Jimmy Garroplo's games, compare them to Trubiski and Kizer and then come tell me you'd rather pick one of them or pick at the end of the round to have a QB that will win you games now. Even the Jets, 9ers, Bills, Browns, all have to ask them this .. Heck if I'm the browns, I'd give them my 2nd 1st rounder .. they could walk away with an elite pass rusher and a qb that is better than Goff/Wentz/Bradford/Trubiski and Kizer

Are we just talking about a backup here or someone to replace Bortles? I assumed we were talking about replacing Bortles. In the case of a backup, I am more than happy with Glennon and maybe even McCarron. As far as the eye test goes, Jimmy G. Is miles better than Bortles IMO.

I may have mentioned it before but I'm up for swapping my 1st rounder with New England. I wouldn't mind swapping, giving up a conditional draft pick next year. Conditions being, another 1st or 2nd if we make the playoffs and a 3rd if they don't

Late round 1st are great for our needs because you can get a feature back there or one of the top guards there, maybe an OLB

I'm game for swapping 1st rounders because outside of Ramsey, Caldwell had had terrible judgement drafting in the top 5.

I agree with nabbing a top guard in the late 1st.

Not even that. Jimmys part is sloppy, like its cut straight and he just pushes it over. AJ looks like he gets a real haircut.

Hair Quality can make or break a QB. Jimmy wins the hair game week in and week out. The man would sell so much hair cream and wax in this town, they will need to build a L'eorel factory in Middleburg and get sponsored inside the stadium

All the greats had the hair, Montana, Young, Namath, Starr

Luck has terrible hair and he stinks so there might be something to this hair thing. A full head of hair increases confidence which extends to the field.

Bradford is not a better QB. Bradford has always been overrated by owners and GM's in the NFL. The guy is a completely average QB. Nothing more, nothing less. He needs to be on a team with a solid O-Line, a good RB and a go to receiver and solid role receivers to succeed. He's just not the type of QB to win games with his arm. I don't think he ever will be.
