Quote:Blue boy sandwich shop. Hands down the best in Jax.
True, it's hard to pick between Blue Boy and Angies for local places.

JM's is by far the best chain out there. Double points Monday adds up to quick free subs.

Quizzno's is a close second but, it seems all the ones around here are closed.

I love Firehouse, when I can eat there. The way they steam the meat and cheese makes for a soggy mess by the time you get a to go one home.

I thought the same thing about Firehouse, but the last couple times I've gone there it hasn't been that way.  I get it fully involved too....it makes me sad.  lol

I wish there was a Jersey Mike's around me.  Any good sub shops in the Mandarin area?

There's a Mikes on Southside near Tinsel town and one on University...not very close, but not way too far either.

Yeah that's the closest one to Mandarin Sad Really wish the old Lee's chicken would have been a JM instead of Jimmy John's.

Wonder what the franchise fee is...lol

Jersey Mikes all day every day babay! I like Wegmans subs too but Jersey Mikes is so on point and solid. Their sub rolls are just so good.

Quote:Jersey Mike's #13, Mike's way.  Add bananas and jalapenos.

Hard to find a better sandwich anywhere, if possible.

The cheesesteak is outstanding, too.
Just had a #13 yesterday:  Mike's way, lite mayo and jalepenos.  I'm good for 1 a month.

Kaishakunin for hire.

Quote:They are all over up here in VA and they are about as good of a sandwich as you can get at a chain restaurant.

I love how they fresh slice everything as they make your sandwich. And the taste kind of reminds me of a place on Blanding Boulevard years ago called Uncle Charlie's; loved that shop!

Unless there's another, Uncle Charlie's is near the corner of Lane and San Juan.

Huh

I think the one that I am remembering, from back in the 80's mind you,  was the original that eventually moved over to Lane. Man I want one of those Uncle Charlie's Specials so bad!

Wow, there too? I don't get it, they have very good subs and they aren't skimpy with the meat/ toppings. Not sure why they aren't more popular.

The only Quiznos I see anymore are in gas stations, if that tells you anything.

As for Jersey Mikes, love it. And they usually have a BOGO deal in the Mint Magazine.

Who here remembers the Community Grocery on Phillips Hwy in the early to mid 90s?  It was about 1/4 mile north of JTB.  They made the best ham and cheese sandwiches around.  And what was weird was it was on regular sandwich bread.  But I could not duplicate the taste to save my life.
