So looks like Bortles will still be the guy

This isn't rocket science.

Actually Khan said in his press release for Gus being fired that Dave would be tasked with finding someone.

Quote:Except he's broken something almost every year the past 5 years.

2008 - broken pinky. Missed games.

2010 - broken collarbone. Missed 10 games.

2013 - ruptured disk. Missed a game.

2014 - fractures in back. Missed a game.

2015 - broken collarbone twice. Missed whole season basically.

2016 - compression fracture. Misses games and gets replaced.

I'd say that's a strong track record.
so a better option is to just roll with the garbage qb we already have? or roll with a garbage qb from FA?

Hes the best option available. Being scared will get us nowhere but our ownership isnt intelligent.

Nothing says "I Make Great Decisions" like ruining your cap situation signing a guy that wouldn't last a game behind the offensive line the Jaguars have been fielding.

Romo would be pumped to die behind that o-line.

Cadwell would be crazy to tie his future with the team on Blakes success. He see's the same quarter back play every week like the rest of us and understands how bad he played this year.  No coach is going  to accept a contract that demands Blake be starting quarterback. Cadwell is smart enough not to place his head on the copping block next to Bortles if he has another season like this year. Im sure they will bring in compatition in a vet or later round pick and the decision on who plays will be the new coaches

Our pass protection hasnt been that bad, only blake apologists think so because theyd rather find other things than look at the guy struggling to read defenses and taking a quarter to wind up his arm

Where's the link/info that says BB5 will be the QB next year?

Dave is still our GM and Dave drafted him so theres not much reason to think he wont get another shot. GMs dont regularly get two quarterbacks.

I'm just saying just bc a guy got hurt in the past doesn't mean he will get hurt again.

You don't play football at the NFL level. Injuries happen.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

between his college tape and the last time we saw him in preseason im not going to bother putting stock into him. If those are our options at QB you guys better get ready for another top 8 pick.

I am not sure he gets a roster spot in 17 regardless of contract.

GMs don't often get a second chance he would be a fool to demand Blake be the starting quarterback after his play this year. No coach is going to agree to such a demand by management.

I dont see another scenario. Unless dave is gonna get another top 5 qb its probably gonna be Blake+FA QB

I don't think he is the best option. I agree Bortles sucks and needs to be replaced. They need to go after garopplo or maybe even kaepernick. There's a lot of QB's hitting the block next year that will be better than Romo.

Cassell 2.0 or the guy that got beat out by Gabbert?

There might be an option out there that Dave can dig up, but I don't see either of those guys being it. If Garoppolo is any good then the Pats won't let him go cheaply, and to me he looks more like Rob Johnson than Steve Young. Trading for other team's QBs rarely works well.

I think Blake will be back with compatition but not as the penciled in starter as far as the new coach is concerned. Lets face it every aspect of his game went down  the tubes this year. i don't know who will be avaliable or drafted that will unfold in the future, but later round quarterbacks have been very successful in the  NFL lets hope we get lucky.

Wonder if NE would take an early 2nd for Garoppolo?
