Lets not forget who Chad Henne is!

Quote:The teal goggles are blinding them. Like I've said with Henne at QB we won't win more than 6 games. But a lot of people on here are ok with that because it's an improvement.

A rookie won't either

Quote:If Henne is a bad as 90% of the fans think he is, myself included, then pretty much any QB they select in the top half of the draft should be able to beat him out in camp.

His salary isnt so high that you have to start him, and if the rookie who beat him out is stinking it up the first few games the team has a guy they trust to manage their game plan. Simple as that. Smile

Gabbert beat him out in camp. How'd that work out?

My concern is throwing a rookie in before he's totally ready. Henne is Henne. But he will have to start until the rookie is comfortable, until coaches feel the OLine is protecting so he doesn't get Gabberted, starting too soon can have bad results, the adjustments to the pros is huge. Ask RG3.

Quote:I agree with you to the extent that Bridgewater would help get us there but I'm also thinking Jameis or Mariota could provided immediate help in 2015 if we happen to get them at the top of the draft.

That's a chance that we the Jaguars shouldn't be willing to take. What if we go 8-8 in 2014. Your aformentioned will not be available to us...

Quote:I'm no Henne supporter and I hope he's the back-up to a rookie before the 2014 season ends.....but....

If we get J Blackmon back, Gerhart has a good year and at least one rookie makes a real impact - he could move the offense enough to win 7 games. Maybe eight in a perfect storm of positive turnover ratio from the defense.

He went 8-8 with the 2010 'phins.

I see you one and I'll raise you one...

Henne has the knack of Blowing It as he did down the latter stretch. He'll give you one or two GOOD games followed by two and three BAD Games. That's his Montra...

It is what it is w/Henne... Nothing Better...

You are assuming that these guys come out...neither have to unless I am mistaken...and Winston has already said he plans to stay all 4 years...while this could change I would not be willing to bet the franchise on if someone will come out...heck these guys could get injured, have horrible years, ect. Maybe Winston goes pro in base ball...the worse thing a GM can do is start counting his chickens before they are drafted.

Mariota wouldn't have gone before Teddy anyway ^

My biggest nightmare is that Bortles and Bridgewater go 1&2.

It's the same every year around here during the offseason. This coach, this player, this draftee, this GM, this free agent is better than what we had. Improvement will be guaranteed because of it. This guy will fit in better with what we do. That guy will be better with a change of scenery. The other guys will benefit with this guy next to him. We should be happy with improvement, but not expect playoffs.

Endless hope, low expectations.

Chad Henne is not even close to being a QB we can count on in crunch time. He might be able to manage a game if he had a star studded offense and defense but he doesn't. The recent FA signings and subsequently the upcoming draft better have accumulated some studs otherwise this next season, and beyond, is going to be nothing better than what we've had for the last 5 years.

if that happens we get Clowney and we'll take a Qb in the second or third the fact that we're sitting at third is a godsend and a curse.  We're high enough to either get the best nfl Qb if he falls two spots or the Best DE prospect in 10 Years if he falls two spots.  And with Saffold going back to the rams it makes it more likely that they'll find a trade partner for whoever drops to 2.

I really don't think so.

Beadles > Rackley, Brewster

Bryant > Alualu

Clemons > Babin, Branch (though this one probably closest)

Gerhardt > SloMo (even it's just because he can play all 16 games)

Hood is kind of an unknown since he's changing systems, he could be anything from a stud to just another guy.

And it's not like these are rookies or really old guys who have nothing left. We have tape, we know what they can do. We are definitely better after these signings than we were 2 weeks ago.

How can you have 2 players in the #1 spot?

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

I'm not talking big board I'm talking top of their prospective positions  Hence there's a #1Qb #1WR #1DE DT ect ect overall if clowney "didn't take this last year off" he'd be the undisputed  #1 overall. It's just that motor dilemma that has people second guessing.

Remember the good old days when we thought Douglas > Spicer?

How far we've come.

Where to start.....

Why are you telling us this? Does it make any difference what we think of Henne?

What is it you want us to do exactly?
Im simply trying to keep some people from forgetting how bad Henne played at times, before just crowning him starter next year! And no it doesnt make a difference what you think of Henne everybody entitled to their on opinions.

Clowney would be on the board.  We could either draft him or trade him down.   The fact that Clowney is on the board at #3 brings a lot of bargaining power to us.  That may be our best case scenario.

Quote:That we won 6 games over the last two seasons and neither a rookie QB or a bunch of FA signings is going to change in the course of one offseason.

This is our 2nd offseason. And yes, a rookie QB could certainly impact our record just as other free agent signings could as well. Caldwell showed last year that he could sign productive free agents.
