they probably gutted the palybooks defensively during the bye and have been practicing just what they've decided is working, make them more comfortable in it and thus more productive. 

Thats what a good coach would do.  It was obvious the previous 8 weeks did not work.

I don't disagree. But I also think that is part of what made Carroll and Bradley successful in Seattle. They played to the strength of the player. Look at Bruce Irvin. Not a great all-around end but a great pass rush. So they use him in that role and it works.
