I confused the Denver game with a 200-yard performance. 

 

Either way, I don't see the logic behind trading him. Most players wont be as good.

I love the armchair GMs on this board who want to trade away anyone who presents even the slightest bit of value. 

 

Blackmon has been identified as one of the building blocks for this franchise moving forward.  He's proven himself worthy of that label since returning from his suspension despite the less than stellar outing yesterday. 

 

This kid has a world of potential.  He's not a finished product yet.  Trading him is one of the dumber suggestions recently on this board, but not surpising because, well, it's this board.  He's not going anywhere, thankfully.  I look forward to seeing him elevate his game and become one of the better receivers in the league.  If he keeps his head straight and stays out of trouble off the field, he's got every possibility of accomplishing great things.  Pair him with a decent QB, and let's see what happens.

If we traded any WR, it would / should be Shorts. Mike Brown can take Shorts' spot.

If it's a player on the back end of a contract that you don't anticipate retaining (Monroe), then it's about the picks.  When it's a young, rising star on your roster, you're not trading him.  Not sure what Ketchman has to do with that.

Predictably, most here regurgitated his spiel without giving it much thought.

 

But the whole point of picks is to get players.

 

Not "jars on the shelf," mind you,  but guys who can actually make a positive difference in a game.

Like anything else, it just depends on the situation. How many players have we had on our roster not worth trading (since 2001). Taylor, MJD, Mathis, Stroud, Henderson, and maybe a handful of others? Even then, it wouldn't take much to be worth more than the contributions of Mathis, Stroud, and Henderson. 


What's your definition of positive difference? We've had OK players, making what I would consider a positive difference, but definitely trade-able. 

 

If your team is successful, I wouldn't propose trading players for picks AS OFTEN. Since we haven't been, I don't see the problem with high turnover.

Don't understand why they had Blackmon in the slot in the redzone and Shorts out wide trying to catch toss up balls in the endzone. Was a pretty stupid play knowing Shorts is not out fighting nobody for the ball. This coordinator is a chump.

I think his mantra was in relation to trading players for picks versus trading picks for players. I think at that point we had people clamoring to trade picks for other teams player and he was saying you want the pick not their player. I know the wording is a little off but it was in fighting the idea that we want to give up our picks for another teams players.

why do we do this constantly.... if there is an award for most knee jerk fan base, we have to be in the running.... this dude puts up numbers and everyone hops on his bandwagon, two weeks later, we have a "let's be real" thread only to say he is average and we should consider a trade... its tough times to be a jag fan.

Blackmon is no AJ Green level, more like Anquan Boldin.  Keep Blackmon as a #2 but still draft that  #1 receiver.

Perhaps what happened is that after his huge game a few weeks ago, defenses rotated their coverage toward him.  Hence fewer targets and fewer catches.
