No, lets be fair here. Gabbert never looked that impressive on his college highlight footage.

 

To give credit where due, Murray does hit a lot of downfield passes. He's certainly not timid when it comes to slinging the rock on intermediate & deeper routes and thats what I like about him. I do have concerns however of how it will translate to the NFL, with how short he is and his arm angle could lead to more blocked passes at the LOS vs bigger and more athletic NFL DL's.

I've seen some good lists on here. Here's mine, by tier, since it's way too early to definitively say anything about exact rankings IMO.

 

Tier 1 - Teddy

Tier 2 - Mariota, Mettenberger, Hundley, Boyd

Tier 3 - Carr, Manziel, Smith, Morris

Tier 4 - Murray, McCarron, Fales, Matthews, Renner

It looks like I'm the only one who likes McCarron as I put him in my top 3, and I think he's worthy of a first round selection. Yes, he isn't the most physically imposing player, but I'm really impressed with his accuracy and how comfortable he is in the pocket. He's everything that Blaine isn't. When I watch him play, I really can tell he has a feel for the game. Obviously, he's not Tom Brady, but I can see how his game resembles his.

Wanted to edit Bridgewater's section after the Rutgers game on 10 October.

1. Teddy Bridgewater -
   All the skills, plus the reps but he doesn't have top notch arm talent. He'll have almost 40 games under his belt when this season is over. If this season plays out as projected, he'll have notched close to 30 wins and post a 0.60+ completion percentage. Simply put, he's the best option out there as the field stands right now.
   
2. Zach Mettenberger
   - He's come a long way and he still has a ways to go, but the skills are there. I'll admit that I wasn't impressed with him last season, but it appears that he has things figured out now. He's not pro-ready, but he has all the ability that you want in a QB
   
3. Aaron Murray
   - You just don't find four-year starters in big time college football, you just don't. So when you see one, you better find out why he's had the keys over every one else. Murray has an excellent grasp of a pro-style Offense and the tools to make it go. Yeah, he's got a height limitation which is a legitimate concern, but there isn't a read that he can't make, nor a throw that he isn't willing to try. I can see him being a Flacco/E. Manning type of player who will consistently win games for you, but might not blow your skirt up all season long.
   
4. Marcus Mariota
   - Probably the best athlete at the position right now. He's got scary speed and a nice arm on him, but will the offense need to be tailored around his strengths at the expense of the entire offensive group? If he can grasp an NFL playbook, the sky is the limit with this guy; but that's an unanswered 'if'.
   
5. Tajh Boyd
   - The middle class man's Murray. He'll have comparable playing time, and a very good grasp of a complex Offense. He has height limitations as well, but he's probably a better athlete than Murray since Dabo likes to run Read-Option with him. I don't like him as much as Murray, but he's still a nice looking prospect.
   
6. A.J. McCarron
   - He's handled the keys to Alabama's offense for a long time now and he has all the reps you could want. That being said, he's got limitations and they are kind of hard to pick out since Alabama simply out-talents most everyone that they play. Is that arm of his strong enough? How dependent is he on the running game? How much does he need his wideouts to bail him out? He's a good Quarterback, but I don't know if he can put a team on his back and carry them to eight or nine wins by himself.
   
7. Brett Hundley
   - As raw as they come, and in my opinion he needs to stay around to get more playing time. The PAC-12 ain't the greatest competition in the world, but he needs time on the field before he gets to the NFL. He's got every tool that a QB needs, he just needs to figure out how to put them to best use. A really intriguing player.
   
8. Stephen Morris
   - He's got the goods, but there's always a hitch with him. It's like he can't string together four or five good games, and he needs to be able to do that to make it at the next level. If he got the Aaron Rodgers treatment where he could sit and learn for two to three seasons, that's be perfect for him.
   
9. David Fales
   - Everything you want except the arm; and that's a major concern. If you can't make the 20 yard out, You'll never make it against NFL Defenses. His arm will get stronger as he ages, but will he have enough of everything else to wait for that to happen?
   
10. Johnny Manziel
    - I hesitate to even put him here. He's showing worrisome immaturity and that will eat him alive in the NFL. He is as elusive as they come, and makes things happen on the field, but how well we he take to coaching? How much structure does he need to be successful?

I'd rather take Brett Smith (Wyoming) or Jeff Matthews (Cornell) at that spot or later, way more upside. Murray seems to have maxed out, kinda like Dalton/Ponder.

Not sure how you compare Murray to Dalton or Ponder.....Murray is a gunslinger. If I was to compare any of the current college QB (top prospect types) to Ponder or Dalton it would be AJ McCarron
