If you're talking about articles about Gay Pride Week, Gay Rights and Gay Marriage, it can be an appropriate usage depending on context. But I hardly ever see it capitalized in random usage.

The only time I've seen it capitalized has been when LGBT is explained, and then it is appropriate.

 

The bottom line here is that he's deflecting his attention away from his bone headed mistake, and it was caught here before he could edit it.

 

lol, the mistake was only made because I see it all the time in the papers/ web/ news, and overlooked that it was at the beginning of a sentence.

However, its funny that we'll all pretend that I didn't have a point there. 

 

"gay" is often capitalized (even when its not the first word of a sentence) and that is incorrect usage.

In other words, TMD is saying, "Know what I mean, not what I say"
