If the Draft were today who would we pick?
|
Am I saying Peppers sucks? No. I'm saying he is not worth a top 10 pick, much less a top 3. His profile is NOT the type of player you take top 3. It would be the equivalent of taking Dante Fowler to be a 10 sack per year guy for you. He is not the type safety a lot of you think he s going to be in the NFL just because he looks good in college.

Quote:He is not 6'1''/ Anyone who has met the dude in person will tell you he is 5'11'' top and apparently he tried to put on weight in the offseason and it affected his speed. The prototypical SS is at least 6'0'' and 220lbs. If Weddle is playing SS then it is not a traditional in the box safety. Anyone safety who is 200lbs playing SS is because the team is using two high free safeties and doesn't have to worry about that player being in the box.I mean all the official measurements have Peppers as 6'1. If he put on another 10 pounds or so he would be hit your weight and height quota. Point being that size won't be the issue that keeps him from playing SS. I don't really buy the hype with Peppers personally and think he'll end up being a better college player than an NFL player. Hard to figure where he will play in the NFL. He's not good enough at coverage to play CB. 100% going to be a first round pick though. Might blow up the combine too.
College measurements aren't worth a damn. You find out their real size at the combine and I guarantee Peppers is 5'11''. If he put on another 10 pounds he would be too slow, which is why he isn't at that weight right now.
It seems we agree on Peppers though so I'm not sure what we're arguing about. "A man with no sauce is lost.

I think that should be considered a no brainer and will be by the time April rolls around. Hooker and Adams are far superior prospects to Peppers.

Yeah I like Hooker. Also think Desmond King is going to be picked apart for his speed but will be a great NFL corner.

I don't think he can play SS in the NFL, period. His best spot is as a hybrid linebacker and that is not worth a top 10 pick. Again, I wouldn't even take him in the first round, personally. Going over official depth charts, I see more 5'10/5'11 guys than I see 6'0+. And the vast majority of them aren't pushing 220, either. We show less advertisements to registered users. Guessing Cyp is re-signed, if so the Jags won't be taking a safety in the 1st
I don't see a QB being worth a top five selection this year at all. None of them are really sure fire prospects. I am fixing to go out on somewhat of a limb here. And this really does boil down to who is the next head coach and/or general manager.
I think with the third overall pick we're looking at a guy like Jonathan Allen, the DT from Alabama. That kid is a monster inside for the Crimson Tide. He did great last year and he's double dipped again in 2016 by being even more great. He's a well rounded player. I am hoping they'll revert back to a more traditional 4 - 3 defense next year. And if they do. Having Allen paired up with Jackson in the middle could go a long way for us next year on what I already think and feel is a decent starting defensive squad. Allen is being compared to Aaron Donald which is huge praise. And I think he'll live up to it. I am still on the fence about Fowler right now. But he's flashed here and there. And you can only increase his odds of getting to the QB by adding a top prospect like Allen to the inside next to him. My dark horse pick is Lenoard Fournette. It wouldn't shock me at all if the next coach comes in and feels that we're struggling obviously with Bortles but we don't have an answer in this year's first round to replace him or free agency to replace him. So you try to take the pressure off of him by adding the best RB prospect behind him and in this offense. This kid is a thumper. And if Ivory continues to put the damn football on the ground and Yeldon keeps kind of going one step forward one week but two steps backwards the next week. We will need a more consistent fixture in the backfield. I think the running game can be improved next year. I think Hackett figured out a way to use our personnel better and it's shown since he took over the play calling in Kansas City. I know everyone wants offensive lineman in a few months but it's not a very deep class on the top end prospect wise. I wouldn't mind a solid Center in RD2 or RD3 to move Linder back to LG or RG though. That's a start. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? Not only is he the safest pick in the draft, but he and Jackson would be dominant on the inside helping Fowler (if he stays at LEO) and Yannick be more disruptive in the pass rush. I would always take a good big man (both lines) over other positions with the exception of quarterback so that would be the justification for Allen over Hooker, Pepper and Adams, although all 3 of those guys should be very good at the next level. Garrett would be the other option and fortunately 1 of those 2 will be on the board if draft position doesn't change from now. Either Cleveland or SF will take a q.b. even though Kizer and Trubisky will be reaches that high. I do differ on Fournette. Although I expect the Jaguars to make at least 2 upgrades on the offensive line, Fournette will not perform at the level of Elliot behind the best O.Line in the league. Ivory does fumble too much, but he and T.J. will suffice with a better line next year. I would probably wait until the last few rounds where good backs can be found. That's true. I'd be okay with maybe stealing Nick Chubb in RD2 or RD3 if his knee doesn't test well at the combine. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie?
