Peter King mentioned this last night. The Jaguars are the worst team of 2016. Worse than the Browns.

 

The worst coached team. We clearly have more talent than the Browns, but Hue Jackson > Gus Bradley despite having less HC experience. It has been obvious all season we have the right players and wrong coaches.

As crazy as it sounds, considering the QB injuries and overall youth/ turnover the Browns have had,  from a distance it seems like Hue Jackson is doing a good job as Browns HC. It wouldn't surprise me if they win a game soon,  with even better results than that.  

 

The Browns should have won a game, maybe two, by now. They made a Chargers-style collapse against the Ravens. You said it: the biggest problem in Cleveland is under center, not on the sidelines.

The problem with NOT firing Gus now is it precludes the possibility, no matter how remote, that a viable solution is actually on the team.

 

Suppose Marrone (for instance) COULD get better effort from the team?

 

If the problem with Bradley is, as so many have offered, he fails to hold players sufficiently accountable, then is it that far fetched to suggest that perhaps dumping Bradley and replacing him with Marrone could get players from feeling invulnerable to accountable, and playing harder and smarter? 

History shows that there is more instances where firing a coach mid season solved nothing than an interim HC turns the team around...It has happened before, but its very rare...

Yet, it has gotten worse with him?  He is a cancer to the org and a point needs to be made, that a winning culture is all that is acceptable.

Anybody who does not know this obviously does not pay attention to any NFL team outside of his own. The only interim head coach I am aware of who won more games than the guy before him that year is Bruce Arians, who was forced into the job for a medical reason.

But it will be a good reason to fire him now to hold him accountable for his miserable failure. It is a good reason to stop him from ruining whatever talents there are. The bleeding has to stop.

 

It is not unreasonable to believe that giving this team to a good head coach, he can turn them around in a couple of weeks, at least to be competitive.

No matter when he's fired he will be held accountable...Firing someone just to be rid of them serves no purpose...nothing will change other than we wont see him on the sideline anymore...I'm not a gus supporter anymore, but the chances of a turnaround by firing him is remote

  Center Nick Mangold is doubtful for the game,  which is another major obstacle for the Jets.    This on top of former OSU LB Darron Lee being out for a 2nd straight game.   I'm thinking seriously of changing my pick to the Browns.

Exactly. There is probably no point in firing Bradley (which saddens me greatly). We need to can the whole staff and start fresh next year. I think if we hire an interim now, then the players will for sure have given up with 9 games remaining. We give Caldwell another couple years with a new HC. I don't believe a new system is going to be a big issue, if we find the right coach (ala Mike Tomlin his first year, the Harbaughs their first years) then we should be fine.
