Keys to Beating New England

I just wanna pause and say I still cant believe we are having this discussion.

Ok, whew.

I know we wont, but we cant play scared of those guys. Go up there and play smart disciplined football and bully them like youve been bullying most everyone else all year. Do that, get a turnover or two and dont turn it over, and we can beat these friggin guys.

Refs will be flag happy to assist the pats so we definitely have to be disciplined. Can't be throwing Brady down and get a no call. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sideline communication system break downs or maybe a lighting failure somewhere along the way. Remember in 1996 when we were gaining momentum and the lights "failed" and cooled us down.

Man oh man I hate that team. We are playing with house money time to go out and shock the world. Been so long I forgot what playoff fandom feels like.

We still haven't played our best game.
No pain, no gain.

I've said it in every thread so far and I'll say it again, [BLEEP] the Patriots...and I'm serious.  People talk about them like they are some kind of [BLEEP] deity.  We have the game to beat them and if we play OUR game, we win.  Plain and simple.

Our remaining game(s) will be played for trophies. Big time players make big plays in big games.
No pain, no gain.

The hurry up offense allowing no substitutions is what scares the crap out of me. I assume Coughlin will be able to assist Doug in game planning for this scenario.

Does anyone know why Chris Ivory was a healthy scratch for our game against Pittsburgh? I just want as many healthy RB's as possible right now to go against New England.

I didn't want to create a whole new thread just to ask this. Thanks!

There haven't been that many pass interference calls this season against Pats. You could call holding every time Gronk is running down the field, because the defenders are basically grabbing him with two hands all the time. He rarely gets those calls though.

Second, communication issues? Give it a rest. I guess that's what happens when you are succesful for a long time. Boston Garden was like that for decades and teams worried about everything else but the game. Stadiums have communication issues and they affect both teams. Pats stadium isn't alone. Only reason why people talk about it with the Pats is A) they win all the time and B) it was one of Tomlin's excuses for losing. It's either that, or someone being injured (yet Gronk was out last year when they got killed by the Pats). I don't understand why the media is all over Andy Reid after every loss, but Tomlin gets a free pass while he fails with a much better roster.

Concentrate on the game and you have a chance of winning. If you start to worry about the mystique surrounding the Pats you have already lost. Pats are a mediocre team talent wise but run a system that has been in place for almost two decades, and the guy playing QB has seen everything you will throw at him. Try to play 60 minutes and hope that Brady doesn't get the ball back with two minutes left and down by a few points.

This team isn't going to buy in to the things I put in this thread.  I'm just saying that stuff has and did happen to us.  Heck remember when the power went out at the superbowl?  Those things do have an impact.  The power thing for us was the old stadium I get that but the communication items have been at the new stadium.  I'm not a fan of your team.  Sure I'm jealous.  Look at the pile of crud we just crawled through to get here.

Control the clock. Win the turnover battle. Hit Brady multiple times. We have a decent chance.

You had it all right until the last comment about "mediocre team, talent wise".....How many more Super Bowls does BB need to win as the GM and Coach of that team before you stop believing such stupid rhetoric?

This all we hear, and how bad the D is, and then December and January roll around, and NE is staring down the barrel of yet another SB appearance.  How many more myths can be stated about the Pats?

(01-15-2018, 01:58 PM)burt1jason Wrote: Control the clock. Win the turnover battle. Hit Brady multiple times. We have a decent chance.

Actually, your D struggles against TEs and RBs out of the back field, just like Tenn.

Also, the Run D is vulnerable.  NE used to destroy Dareus when he was in Buffalo.  I think it's sort of funny your division was so god awful, the Titans actually made the postseason and the fact you think the best offense you would have played this year is somehow as good or better than NE's.

This will be the best team you would have played all year.  Trust me. If you go looking for things, it reeks of desperation.  Pitt's D was terrible, alllowing 30 points per game at home for the last 5 or 6 games.

NE allowed 7 on Saturday, before a garbage time TD and your D allowed 35.

NE has the best red zone D in the league in terms of creating turnovers, and is second in the conference behind Jax in red zone D.

For 8 straight games, before some injuries deralied the momentum, NE was holding teams to an 11.87 point average, which is incredible, yet no one knows about because the media is jealous of BB.

NE also allowed the least amount of point in the NFL since October 1.

Are we really the only AFC team that hasn't beaten Brady?

Good God that's a lot of cherry picked stats.
Well since October, the Jaguars have the best defense in afternoon games where the relative humidity is below 65%, terror threat level is orange, the price of GE's stock declined the previous week, and the moon is in the waxing phase

And tell us what our team is good at and can’t do.   It’s the Jags,  I know those patriots fans haven’t seen but two games of the jags all year.  And those were the last two games.  All I have seen from the pats fans is, ‘their Defense isn’t that good, they gave Steelers 42’

They’re all the same.  None of the countless accusations happened.  It’s all fake.   If you’re tired of seeing the same team in the super bowl, you’re a hater.  If you question their team or talk any smack you get one of two responses: “I’m sorry, how many times have we beaten you?” Or “we have 5 rings, how many do you have?’

..and yes,  [BLEEP] the Patriots

Bill Burr has a good bit about that. I'd post the video, but it has profanity in it. You can search for Bill Burr stats on YouTube and find it. He talks about about how people go to imright.com and apply ridiculous stats in a feeble attempt to further their argument.
