But he and his agent are just being smart and waiting on all the other offers to level up. If they have a "fair" multi year deal on the table then they would have tagged him, cause 16 million for one year is like 2 million more than fair for him. They wouldn't risk losing him for that. This is my thought as well. If Arob's contract will prohibit you from re-signing guys like Ngakoue and Ramsey is he really worth it? I think almost everyone can agree that pro bowl DE's and CB's are a lot harder to find than WR's.

I hope he gets as much as he can, but unfortunately realize it's not going to be here.
I would have liked to have been able to keep him, but someone else will pay more than we'll be willing to coming off the injury. I'm more confident in Caldwell's eye for WRs than probably any other position. I have confidence we'll be alright letting ARob go.

We'll see, but I think there are going to be a whole host of teams who will prove that Davante Adams 14 mil is where fair starts with Arob. Yeah if I'm Arob contracts start at 14 million per year. Zero reason to take less.
This is as I expected. I'm glad we didn't overpay. I began to get the feeling he didn't want to be here and if that's true, let him leave. We are a run first team now anyway and we went to the AFCC game without him so, I don't anticipate that big of a loss. I think a lot of people on here drastically overvalue his worth.
Can we still trade him? I want as many picks as we can get for him. I think he's a false product tbh and we need to fleece a team before they all figure it out.

With the difference being Landry isn't coming off a down year and a torn ACL. No team is going to pay Arob 16 mill AND give up draft picks to do it.

There is no risk in franchising him, seeing how the knee holds up next year, and then going from there.
They can fit him in under the cap and don't need to dip into free agency really this year like in the past. There is zero risk in a 1yr, $16m deal for a player of this caliber. Considering he's averaged 100 catches a year for the last 4 years, it kinda does, even with the low average YPC. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
I have gotten zero push back when I have said Arob is better than Adams and Landry, but when it's stated as 14 million (Adams) or 16 million (Landry tag) then it's almost all that he's not worth that. It's a weird dichotomy that we admit our players are very good but think that paying them what the market has said they are worth then all of the sudden they aren't very good anymore.

Our undrafted FA WR, Keelan Cole, came up 148 yards short of Robinson's 2016 year while only starting 6 games.
Robinson is good but he's not 14-mil good (IMO). It seemed like he balled-out in 2015 with all sorts of acrobatic catches and 100% effort. I didn't see that in 2016. His drop in production is partially Bortles and largely Robinson I think.

That's a lot of Cap space tied up into one position that requires several players to fill the spot. On top of the man coming off an ACL tear. I agree that someone is going to throw a ton of money at him, and good on him if he gets it. But I also understand why it's not financially responsible to do so.
