LSU/Florida game rescheduled
|
The Commissioner did it because it was the right thing to do. If anything, he was listening to other coaches and AD's. I don't think it had anything to do about being mad at Florida. Butch Jones, as well as other head coaches and AD's, said the SEC had to reschedule. Like Butch Jones said, "[T]he SEC will do the right thing." And they did. I didn't say the Commisioner made up a rule on the fly, he just used his powers to interpret SEC teams play 8 conference games to mean they MUST play them to qualify for the SEC Championship.
Before he made that interpretation, there was absolutely no reason to believe Florida couldn't go to the title game without rescheduling. I'm pretty sure if it was required the whole time then the SEC Commissioner would have just said it in the beginning, not all this well hey they should probably play talk LOL. If you watched him during the Tenn/Tamu broadcast, he never said it was required or that they had to play the game to qualify for the championship. He said he "desires" that they reschedule. Only after backlash from LSU, Tenn, football pundits, fans, coaches, and ADs did he come out and say the SEC requires it.
New signature because HIGH SCORE found the periodic table offensive. Pathetic LOL

The SEC made the right decision. Allowing Florida into the SEC championship with one less game than anyone would have been a travesty.
As far as being "scared" I'm not so sure. I do think Florida had its reasons for not wanting to play that weekend, but being scared is a bit of hyperbole and rhetoric. It makes LSU and its fans feel better for not having played that weekend. It also allowed Florida to get Del Rio back. Btw, I never thought of it before, but I wonder what the premium is on the insurance policy for losing a home game (or 2)...its got to be insane.

UT and Butch Jones would have been extremely upset if they missed out on the SEC Championship Game after playing a full schedule in favor of a team that played only seven conference games. Of course UT was in favor of rescheduling the game. But the SEC Commissioner said nothing about talking to other schools not named UF and LSU. What did he say at the UT/TAMU game?
JW, just because something wasn't said doesn't mean it never happened. People don't say things for a reason.
I love how we are now "scared" to play LSU. That's some funny stuff. Did we try to use the rescheduling to our advantage so we would have LDR back? Most more than likely, but that doesn't equate to being "scared" to play the game at all.

Quote:Wasn't Fournette injured when we were supposed to play them?Yes...They didn't want to agree to our makeup dates...maybe they were scared to play us!

LSU was not scared to play without Leonard Fournette, who would have been ruled out. That said, the one good thing was LDR could heal that week after struggling with range of motion during practice. He would not have been ready to play.
Quote:Yes...They didn't want to agree to our makeup dates...maybe they were scared to play us! That's what I thought. Why would we NOT want to play LSU without their best player? Doesn't even make any sense. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Quote:Exactly, but let's not let the truth get in the way of them calling UF scared! LOL LSU obviously made up the "Florida is scared to play us" crap. We had no reason to be scared of their backup RB. Everyone knew their best player is not out for the year.

No dog in this fight but I am happy to see the Gators prevail. To consider how LSU played this after having gone through Katirna was complete chicken [BLEEP]. Kharma wins!

At some point you just have to let go of what you thought should happen and live in what is happening.

As much as I despise the gates I'm glad to see LSU get theirs after the garbage they pulled.

In the .001% chance the Gators actually beat FSU and somehow manage to stop Alabama, being as they're #13 in the rankings right now, do they automatically go to the playoffs?
If they beat FSU and then Alabama, I almost think they deserve a shot at the playoffs.
With that said, the possibility of that happening is slightly below .001%. |
