Davon Hamilton - Rd3, Pick 73

We have great edge rushers, so we can afford to have some run stuffers in the interior Bingo. Plenty of of people were adamant against picking Brown saying things like “you can find 2 down run stuffers later in the draft, no reason to spend a top 10 pick on one” Well.....here you go.

I dont care if he gets zero sacks and no pressure You can get that for 2 million two weeks into FA. You don't use top 100 picks on it. Well you do if you're looking to continue your record shattering streak of futility like Dave is.
I'm warming up to it. I'll admit B/R's incredibly negative reviews skewed my opinion initially

If you attribute that to him lining up with Young, well guess what, he will be flanked by Josh Allen and Chaisson. Our run-stopping AND pass-rushing will benefit mutually with this pick.

Looks like they want a nose tackle to eat up space and blockers. Sounds good in theory but why not get him in the 4th round and not early 3rd? For the record, I gave Quincy Williams an "F" grade and I don't give that grade lightly. He was a guy projected to go undrafted. I think this pick is a different scenario. He's a role player. His knock is pass rushing, but he was (presumably) drafted as a rush stuffer where he excels. I like taking an every down player over a role player, but it's a role that was a desperately needed. I can at least see the argument for him. (04-24-2020, 10:48 PM)The_Franchise_QB Wrote:(04-24-2020, 10:37 PM)rpr52121 Wrote: Weren't the Jags 13th in fewest QB Hits allowed in 2019? I'm sorry I don't have the free time to watch all the tape you do. I'm also not sure why my input is any reflection on what the Jags and Caldwell think, especially given they have not drafted an offensive lineman yet, and you have reports from people much closer to the team saying things like this: Quote:Bruce from Green Cove Springs, FL
ifn we are switching to a 3 4 we do not have a large space eater NT on the team and he was the second best in this draft behind brown

I expect Hamilton to get some rotations initially and eventually become the starter.
Marrone even said they project him as a young Al Woods. They used a top 100 pick on a guy you can get every offseason for 2 million dollars late in the FA process.

It's comments like these that make me think Caldwell actually feels the O line is ok. Tape? I'm talking about the games. Did you not see Minshew literally running for his life almost every game? I mean c'mon man lol. It's a pathetic line, and HOPING (because that's what the Jags are doing) that it's going to turn average... is a bad decision IMO. I think that QB is the most important position in the game. Way ahead of any other position, but next up in my personal opinion is O-line. No QB can be good without an O-LINE. Get your guy... protect him. Fill out roster after that. That's my idea. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Guys big and strong enough to be an effective run stuffer up the middle are few and far in between. You can bring anyone in on the cheap. Doesn't mean they have the ability to be effective. Effective guys in that role cost big bucks just like Dareus.

Some of you guys make me laugh.
Dareus comes in and out defense is elite...Dareus gets hurt and then costs too much and our run defense is laughable. We drafted Terrance Knighton in the 3rd round and he turned out ok. But I understand if you want the guys on Kipers Board and all that. THERE IS NO 3rd ROUND ROOKIE GUARD THAT IS BETTER THAN WHAT WE HAVE NOW. The drop off between a good Guard and an average to below average guard ain’t that much. I like the pick. I actually love what we’ve done so far. Needs are being filled and we’re moving forward with what we have. It all comes down to QB play anyways.
The Big Uglies are the best... We need some stout dudes on the inside! I like this pick in the 3rd. It is nice that he is strong as and OX.

Got to get the big uglies early, look how the Colts built that line as an example. Just a MONSTER O Line. Eason or Fromm? Or that other QB from Wash St. ![]() (04-25-2020, 01:18 AM)JagFanatic24 Wrote: Some of you guys make me laugh. You make a great point about Knighton. I don't understand your obsession with "Top 100 picks" athletic guys that are 320 lbs. don't grow on trees, sure you can find a DT for 2 million in FA that's 320 lbs. but is he going to be young or athletic like Hamilton? Did you hate the Terrance Knighton pick way back when too?

1) Draft Trevor Lawrence! 2) Play good physical Defense! 3) Keep 91% of the roster healthy! 4) ??? 5) Blank #2 6) CHAMPIONSHIP!!! |
