4-6 wins but I expect the team to play really hard.
Respect the game.  Play with a sense of urgency.

1.)  Take care of the ball.  Win the turnover battle.

2.)  It's all about 3rd down.  Win on 3rd down to win the game.

3.) Playmakers make plays.  The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays.

Learn from the great collapse of 2023.

The Jags go into the final 2 weeks of the season with a 2-12 record. They have a lock on the #1 pick, ahead of the New England Patriots who have a 3-11 record. We go into Chicago and are trailing 17-3, but Minshew leads a massive comeback and we win the game 27-17. This means we now are tied with the Patriots  for the worst record in the NFL. Both of us lose in the final week of the season, giving us matching 3-13 records, but because of some weird tie breaker scenario, the Pats end up with the #1 overall pick. We offer them the moon in order to trade spots, but Bill Belichik (being the genius that he is,) rebuffs all our trade offers and selects QB Trevor Lawrence. All of his defensive stars that opted out this season, return in 2021 and the Patriots have another juggernaut for the next decade. Meanwhile, LT phenom Penei Sewell opts to stay in school and the Jaguars are forced to reach for a QB that ends up busting. Despite this, Khan extends the contracts of Caldwell, Marrone, Wash and Gruden.

This.

We should probably start a vikings and rams thread on "final record predictions" so that we have something to root for other than our rebuilding Jags!

vikings go 8-8 and we end up with a mid second round pick.
rams go 7-9 and we end up with a top 10 pick

as long as doug is head coach jags contintue to lose. if there is a full season and doug isn't fired jags will be lucky to win 2 games if lucky.

if doug is fired midseason,or sometime after a couple loses jags end up with winning record cause gruden has fire unlike lazy doug.

Boselli, Prisco, and Lageman were actually talking about his weak arm yesterday ... saying that's something you can't fix.  They eluded to the fact that he's not very good with going through his reads and often leaves the pocket to get to his 2nd and 3rd reads.

He's actually considerably better at that then most rookies.

I honestly do not trust any of the the three of them when it comes to QBs after Prisco's love of Gabbert and Boselli and Lageman defending Bortles.

Somehow he's managed to have tremendous success at every level.  He had a really good year (for a rookie) last year.  If he finally fails this year, it'll be the first time.  So we will see.

Yup. Odds are far greater that Minshew will be balling this year rather than busting.

Take a breath, people. Can we at least watch them for one game before declaring another bad season?

Cons: Traditional Sophomore Slump, limited off season, physical tools will always be average
Pros:  Gruden and McAdoo, Intelligence, Big Ol' Chip

I like his odds.

He gonna stink this season with no running game.  Most of his stats are gonna be garbage time stats when the game is basically over. You all just have a man crush because I guess you all like dudes who look they grew up in Jacksonville in the 1970s who wear daisy dukes and a headband so you can be mesmerized with his hair bouncing up and down in slow motion.

Historically the Sophomore slump tends to come from rookies who have really good rookie years. While Minshew worked plenty of magic and gave us hope, his rookie year still looked much like a rookie season with plenty of lows. Missing reads, holding the ball too long, had to make come backs late because of an inability to move the ball early.

Matt Ryan, RGme (albeith because of injury), Sam Bradford, Mayfield, Prescott (although his slumpy year was still solid), these guys had better than average or really good rookie years and then took a step back.
I don't think Minshew was quite on that level as a rookie so I don't foresee a slump in that manner. If he "slumps" it means he's just not that good and the magic was more or less a mirage.
