As of now, I have the QB's ranked......

1. Zach Wilson, BYU
2. Trevor Lawrence, Clemson
3. Mac Jones, Alabama
4. Kyle Trask, Florida

Personally, I would be happy with any of these guys. I think this is a pretty deep class and all of these guys have a chance to be very good NFL starters.

I believe there is a pretty big gap between Lawrence and the other 3. The difference between him and Wilson is size and level of competition. It wouldn't shock me if Wilson ends up being a franchise quarterback. I would draft him ahead of Fields as things stand now. Fields is a great athlete, but I question whether he has the intangibles to succeed in the NFL.

The level of competition cannot be helped. As far as the size, Lawrence is definitely taller, but he's a tall QB. At 6'3" 210 lbs, Wilson is far from being a small QB. He's actually taller than Aaron Rodgers and Deshaun Watson and those guys are considered pretty prototypical on their size. He could add some weight to his frame, but that will come. I have him just the slightest of hairs ahead of Lawrence right now, but I'd be thrilled with either guy. Outside of these two, I'd probably draft 2 QB's. One with our second 1st round pick and a project with high upside somewhere in the 4th or 5th round like Sam Ehlinger of Texas or Shane Buechele of SMU.

I have said many times I have them graded very closely and I would be thrilled with either one. Yes, I do like Wilson a slight bit better, but there was no guarantee that he would even declare. If the Jets lost and kept the #1 pick and they took Trevor Lawrence and Wilson stayed in school, that would be my nightmare. Even if Wilson did declare, I wouldn't trust this team to draft him over Fields. With us having the #1 pick. All my fears can be laid to rest, as long as we lose out. In that scenario, we are guaranteed a franchise QB. I couldn't be happier.

I said I'd be thrilled with either guy and have them graded so closely that it doesn't matter much. If we have the #1 pick, we're guaranteed one of them and this ridiculous Justin Fields nonsense can be laid to rest. That would be a HUGE relief. We just need to lose out.

How you grade a player should not be reliant upon "if he's there or not when we are picking".

You start ranking from #1 downwards...

Lawrence has always been the best player and it will remain that way - regardless of who is picking #1.

Does it really matter? If we stay at #1 and we take Lawrence, I'll be thrilled. If we fall back to #2 and we take Wilson, I'll be thrilled. Both are franchise QB's that I have ranked so closely that they are almost interchangeable. I just wanna stay at #1, because I don't trust this team to steer clear of Fields at #2. I'm tired of getting let down by this franchise. After 25 years of constant disappointments, we deserve a moral victory.
