Biden Executive Order Requires Taxpayers to Fund Gender Transition Surgeries

The social area on the base (no clubs of any kind anymore) celebrates "gay pride" and has "gay functions".  The standards for grooming have also been "relaxed" so that females can wear their hair in ways that are not very appropriate when it comes to "military bearing".

PT (physical training) is more important now rather than proficiency in their actual job.

The problem is the military is allowing troops to be "individuals" rather than part of a unit.  One of the biggest concepts that used to be taught in basic training was that you are not an "individual" you are part of a team.  Nobody is different than the person standing next to them.  That's all gone.

Now it seems that people with mental disorders are not only allowed to be a part of the military, but the military (we tax payers) will have to pay for their "treatment" of their mental disorder.

If we ever have to go to war we are screwed.

The Master Chief treats his people like that for the same reason senior military officers attacked Tucker Carlson on Twitter - it's a plug for their resumes. All will be retiring within the next 3-5 years and want to be able to reference instances of wokeness to prospective employers.

That's a damn shame. I hope the Marine Corps hasn't gone to [BLEEP]. My nephew just reported to Parris Island a couple of weeks ago. I need to write him a letter and ask him what the deal is. As old as it makes me feel I'm glad my time in was before everything went sideways. I knew it would be a problem when I heard Fort Jackson had co-ed boot camp. Dumbest idea ever. At least to that point.

It's two rather simple words forming a common phrase.

Which is why taxpayers won't be paying for these procedures on any remotely significant level.

Do you think the radicals on the left think surgery is necessary or not? We're talking about mental health, here. This simply boils down to who defines what is necessary. You're awful confident people think like you do with regards to this issue.
No.

I’m not “awful” confident people “think like me” about anything.

I’m awfulLY confident that people that choose these treatments have a very uphill battle trying to prove a specific mental disorder exists to just receive treatment. Then if they are actually diagnosed with this “gender dysphoria” disorder by an approved physician, they must then prove that any actual surgical procedure is medically necessary for the whole thing to move forward.

I am furthermore awfully confident that getting past either of these steps, much less both, for anyone simply seeking elective gender reassignment under a military healthcare plan is going to be damn near pissing in the wind.

As a vet, I'll admit that the change in the military mindset bugs me. But I also have to ask myself if things have to be done exactly the way I was taught in order to be successful. I wonder. We definitely didn't train/behave like the military units a generation or more before and we were ok. I'm with you in thinking that the tax payers shouldn't be required to fund elective surgeries. But you lost me when you describe transgenderism as a mental disorder. It's true, conservatives largely think of it that way but over the years, "mental disorder" has been used to describe everything from women wanting divorces to inter-racial relationships to homosexuality. We've gotten past most of that but obviously there are still some hangups we're working on.

If we ever have to go to war, we're screwed but that would have been the case in our day as much as it is today.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.
