At some point you just have to let go of what you thought should happen and live in what is happening. The fact that so many of you have to always bring race into things for an argument just shows the problem with you/this country...
Fact of the matter is that the cop was in a hallway, behind a door and windows that were completely barricaded with all sorts of things. That alone should be enough of a sign for people to understand to not try and enter... The dumb [BLEEP] proceeded to break through one of the windows and try to climb through it. If she gets through, more people are going to follow. For all that cop knows and highly likely, they would have overrun him and probably killed him. He had every right to open fire on her/anybody else who tried to breach that window. I guarantee that all of you would do the exact same thing if someone/multiple people were at your house, trying to break down your door/windows, screaming who knows what. You're going to put 2 in the chest of the very first person that comes through that door/window and you know it. Because you'd be trying to protect yourself and your family. He was trying to protect himself, the other people hiding in and/or on the other side of that hallway because that's his job.
This^. None of you stood in his shoes while a growing crowd becoming more bold was attempting to breech that door.

The left bypassed metal detectors and overran a federal building while it was actively in use? I must have missed it.

Government and the function thereof is not dependent upon a specific physical location. Occupying the Capitol could never have done more than delay the event for a few hours. They could have burned the place to the ground and the process simply would have continued at another location.

It wouldn't have taken many. Are you now suggesting the intent was to capture/kill half of Congress? You're beyond delusional. They only needed to capture 10 to 15 Democratic members and then the majority would be tipped to the Republicans. This was a disorganized mob. Some of them had this type of intent, and others of them hadn't really thought through their next steps after they broke in. But at the moment, nobody knew what anybody's intent was, and the officers defending the room had to assume the worst.

There are many reasons why 624 ppl have been charged snd 570 of them arrested. Among those reasons is the collected evidence of three different organized militia groups that indeed intended to abduct members of Congress. Combine that with the mob literally chanting about hanging Mike Pence - and combine that with the officers inside being aware that their colleagues outside has just been beaten and bear sprayed… The officer who fired on the mob attempting to breach the last line of defense is beyond justified in his action. Some people wanna turn the situation into something it wasn't. I watched it live on television. It was a violent mob of people who were breaking the law and failed to stand down. Period!
Yup. I think every right winger on here needs to concede that there was a group of right wing insurrectionists present that day in the Capitol. I don't think it's what the media made it out to be, but there were definitely some people there with bad intentions. There were also some antifa folks there. They clearly didn't make up the majority, but they did partake in this event, including some of the destruction. There were also some FBI agents who were undercover. We know they infiltrated what they believed were right ring terror threats. I'm not sure what role they played in the breach, but, if the Governor Whitmer incident is any indicator, it's probably more than they should have.
If the right-wingers here can concede there were some right wing insurrectionists, can the rest of you acknowledge that antifa played a role in fomenting dissent? And, at the very least, acknowledge that the FBI was undercover and present that day? I only care about this because it shows that there were a lot of moving parts. You take a mob with an angry sentiment, then include violent bad actors and agents encouraging people to do something illegal, and you have the perfect conditions for an insurrection. It's *possible* that some antifa were there for some far fetched reason. It's also *possible* that undercover FBI was there. But neither has been proven. Certainly most of the crowd was sincere right wingers. So why should anyone concede otherwise?
