Even though he’s not the best passer, he is still a huge problem on the right team. He’s super explosive.

I can understand why he didn't play, from his perspective.  He's a running QB, and he had a leg injury.  Why risk his future for a team that isn't going to pay him what he wants?

I am pretty sure he will get no takers until he drops the fully guaranteed clause.  In fact in this sport I cannot see any player getting a multi year deal of a great quantity fully guaranteed.

I’m not worried about him going to the dolts. In a couple years, his playing speed will naturally decrease, and I doubt he’ll ever be a passer who can pick apart defenses without his running threat. Plus, he’s a big injury risk and a me first diva distraction.

Jones hasn't thrown for more TDs than the amount of games hes played in, in the past 3 seasons...

He played 14 games in 2020. 11 Passing TD and 10 INT.

11 games in 2021. 10 Passing TD and 7 INT.

16 games in 2022. 15 Passing TD and 5 INT.

41 games, 36 Passing TDs, yet he gets that contract and people are mad because Lamar wants more.

Will Lamar still be playing in the NFL in 4 years? I don't think the teams can say yes for certain.

Look at what he is doing. He doesn't have an agent, he is trying to save money. He has taken himself out of games he could have played in. He is only talking about guaranteed money. He doesn't always appear to love playing football.

No team is giving up 2 1st round picks for only 2 years. You can't guarantee more than that for his new contract because you don't know when the next injury comes and you can't count on him not just walking away. If he didn't have the injury history and wasn't representing himself, teams would have made plays for him.

If he is unwilling to lower his demands, I could see him never playing again. I just don't get the feeling he wants to put his body through it without a guaranteed contract.

Yea, agreed. It will be entertaining as many of his friends line up to say how he DESERVES (code word for entitled) to get what he wants.  Sherman has always been a proponent of fully guaranteed contracts like baseball. He has another agenda, just using Lamar to advance his opinion.

Lamar is like many small frame scatbacks that can throw reasonably well. Right now he is only worth 70% of what a top QB will get as that is how many games he has proved he can play each year.

I would much rather the clots roll out old man Rivers, old man Ryan, Carson Wentz or Jacoby Brisett than Lamar.

He misses wide open guys streaking down the field in every game and then complains about his WRs.  If he hits one of those passes vs us we lose and miss the playoffs.  The Ravens were winning games with Huntley man.

Lamar also hit SEVERAL dudes right in the hands and they dropped it vs the Jags. I think it was Demarcus Robinson that dropped a TD in the end zone. This one below is from 2021 but point remains.

Jags got Lawrence Ridley. Ravens got Lamar…. Demarcus Robinson. They also ran an absolutely archaic offense but blamed it on Lamar saying he couldn’t run another offense.

What motivation does the team have to run an outdated offense?  Lamar cannot succeed in modern offenses because the only thing he does that is in any way special is that he runs.

Coaches are mostly stubborn by nature. They stick to one gameplan and rarely ever change. Greg Roman ran the same stuff year in and year out.

Now they finally hired Todd Monken who is the complete opposite of Greg Roman. So why make this change if they don't believe Lamar can run that pass heavy offense?

Possibly, but we have a 2 year window before we have to pony up the same type of coin to Trevor, which is going to weaken our team. So the weaker our division foes are during that 2 year period, the better. Don't want to have to play him twice a year on a team that might actually give him some offensive weapons.

The Ravens drafted 2 WRs in the first since Lamar has been been there.  I wonder how many teams have drafted 2 WRs in the 1st in that time span if any?  They have a top 3 TE and one of the better olines in the league as well.

It's all about the guaranteed $$.

The Giants can dump Jones after 2 years and only pay $92m.  Lamar wants DeShawn Watson fully guarantee (~$230m).   Thus if DeShawn tears his ACL, the Browns are out the full $230 million.  Given Lamar's injury history in which he only played 1 single game in the past 2 years in Dec & Jan, the Ravens don't want to commit $230 million to him.   3-years @ $150 million (fully guaranteed) should be something that he should accept ... but then again, he got a score of 15 on his Wonderlic so he's not the sharpest tool in the shed.

It'll just set them back. Jackson has yet to show he can stay healthy and he's also struggled in the post season. I don't fear him the way I would fear Mahomes, Burrow and very possibly our guy Lawrence if he chains together an even better season than 2022. Which he seems poised to do so in year two with Pederson and Ridley onboard.

Lamar has only been injured in these past 2 seasons and both injuries happened when he was inside of the pocket, not when he was running. That could happen to any QB in this league and it does every season. Hes been healthy more of his career than not.

I think Kollman's last point about the inflexibility of cap the hit throughout the contract is an interesting point why the Ravens and other teams may be balking at Lamar's demands.
