"There has never been a Palestine state."

After WW1, the Ottomans ceded an area of land which now comprises Israel and Jorden and which was referred to as the Palestinian mandate, but it was merely a territory under British control. Thats if you believe Israeli propoganda.  Laughing

But why do you ask "Jag149", do you have an opinion to make here?

Oh wow, you're anti-Israel too? Who would've ever guessed?

I'm more than happy to pay his airfare to the warzone of his choice. It's a shame he's a chickenhawk though, so he'll never get to experience what he demands of other people.

Lol.  It's simply a fact that Jewish people didn't live in the area from 70 AD to 638 AD. And Jewish people didn't rule the area from 586 BC (when the Jewish state known as Judea fell, Israel had already fallen) to 1948 AD.

Stating simple facts doesn't make us pro or anti anything.

I'm just correcting your history.  Israel was not a place on a map from 720 BC to 1948 AD.

That doesn't mean Hamas, or anyone else, should annihilate it.  I support Israel's right to exist and defend itself wholeheartedly.

Nice to hear your stance on Israel.  The Jewish people have lived there all that time. Now, where is the map that shows a nation called Palestine?

I already told you that.  Any map from 70AD to 1948AD would have called the area Palestine or Filasteena.

When my father was in school there was no Israel on the map, it was Palestine. Mandatory Palestine. When his father went to school it was the Ottoman Empire.

Does "Jag149"  think any of this mean anything?

It's like debating "Kosovo" before its independecy that it wasn't a state (which they werent) under Yugoslavia but they were 90% of Albanians living there for decades.

I have been looking at historical maps and have never seen a world map with a country named Palestine on it. I have seen them with Israel. So provide a source or link please. I suspect it is this way because most of that populace lived in Jordan.

The British called it Palestine in official documents in 1917, and also many years before and after that.  If you were looking at Byzantine or Ottoman documents you'd see the same word in a different alphabet.  If you were looking at Latin documents they would say Palestina or Palaestina.

This is an artistic work that goes with the one memo of what it would look like if the rest of the world accepted it. LOL.. try again

if either of you want to go there I am sure we can get you there somehow to defend Hamas.

Bottom line the Israelis carved out an area for them to govern themselves, against their own opinion. The first thing they did was attack them. They lost the land that was given. IfI was Israel I would not be as kind as they have been.

I mostly agree, actually.  From 10,000 miles away, we can see ways that Israel might be able to behave better, and persuade more of the Arabs to lay down their arms and live in peace, But if I was living there, I probably wouldn't care. When people want to annihilate you, human nature demands that you respond by trying to annihilate them first.

If there are Arabs living in Israel proper, or in the occupied territories, who genuinely want to peacefully coexist next to or within a Jewish state, I have sympathy for them. A lot of sympathy. I wish they had more control and more influence over the situation. But Hamas and its "river to the sea" ideology must be annihilated.

What is not understood by Americans is the Palestinian children for years have been raised and indoctrinated to radical Islamic principles. This has happened as they have been ruled by Hamas. Egypt took some in and for their trouble they got the Arab spring. Jordon was glad they left. The rest of the Arab world does not want them in their countries or bordering them if possible. I cannot see the Israelis allowing arms into Gaza ever again. It will be hard to get them to return Gaza at all.
