Unarmed man shot by police in Miami

Quote:flsprtsgod, spin spin spin. Your original point was he never should have pulled a gun in this incident. You're wrong, he was well within his right to pull a gun. Using it is a completely different matter. Dig your head in the sand as deep as you can and act like it was never said.

You changing the narrative is funny.

Most of these people with opinions have never been a cop and have no idea what it takes to be one. You have no idea what its like to go out on the streets and deal with the worst of the worst on a daily basis. It's easy to say he shouldn't have pulled his gun, shouldn't have done this, shouldn't have done that when your play arm chair cop at home.

Have you been an officer?

Why is it that I never see anyone stand up and get all self righteous about no one knowing what it takes to be a pro football player when people pile on Cyp for missing another tackle? If we're not allowed to criticize awful cops because we've never been one, why does no one rush to Alualu's defense when we call him awful? I mean, we've never been pro football players, and certainly he's a better football player than this guy is a cop.

He's the that's spinning.

I'm still not sure of the specifics of this, so I'm reserving judgement. Nut much info on this is being reported on the radio. All I know is was I read on the cnn news crawl this morning...

I know the guy was a therapist. Was the victim white? I'm confused why he was shot if he was following this cops instructions...

Why does that matter?

There are 10 kinds of people in this world.  Those who understand binary and those who don't.

Don't act like a moron all your life.

Thanks for the link, jagwired.

So, based on the reporting, I'd say that I smell bacon.

So I guess you're going to be the first lib to claim that this is a racial incident?

I can't see it any other way. Dude has his hands in the air, three shots were fired, apparently, and he was laying on his back.

are you saying that there isn't some bias that came into play based on the poor guy being black?

It doesn't feel like police brutality to me. That's what confuses me. It feels like a [BLEEP] excuse for a cop (but not for that reason) completely screwed the pooch (but not in that way). I suppose we have to wait for the investigation. It's just too weird this time around to pin racial bias on it right away.

None of this should be interpreted as me defending the cop who pulled the trigger. He shouldn't have a badge, let alone access to a gun, but I'm not willing to call him a pig until we're sure this wasn't an accidental discharge of a fully automatic weapon.

Like I said it smells bad.

Are you sure it was a full auto?

I'm assuming he squeezed the trigger 3 times...

Also, from the article jagwired linked, it's reported that in the video the cop can be heard saying, "shut up, idiot!".

That's why I think it's more than just gross incompetence.

The autistic man said that to his caretaker.

I don't know what happened. That's why I'm confused. I've seen nothing clear cut that says he pulled the trigger three times. All I've seen is that he was holding a rifle (many police rifles are full automatic), three shots were fired and a man was hit in the leg. There's no video showing him aiming the rifle or intentionally pulling the trigger. There are legitimate hard questions to be answered, and those answers will lead to more questions that may eventually indicate that this was a blatant abuse of power/attempted murder by a pig in a blue shirt, but it's just so weird and so little is known at this point that I'm genuinely confused. I'm really feeling like this was a completely preventable accident on the part of a miserable excuse for a cop.

Unless he was carrying the SWAT MP-5, the three round burst theory isn't possible (I dont think).

I did not think police had access to fully auto AR-15, which is basically the M-16.

AR-15 = semi automatic.

M4 = essentially the same rifle but selectable for semi, fully automatic or 3 shot burst.

Didn't you just say a day or two earlier, police officers have a tendency to be more alert or have higher precautions when dealing with black subjects?
