Great story, but this is a bit more than expected.

 

A 4 yr/40 mil deal would have been very good if he was on the open market, but after buying out two of his 'pre arbitration' years to steal a baseball comparison I would have expected a bit more of a discount on the back end. I thought he'd get more like 4/32. Still fine and not complaining, just a bit high...certainly not a Mike Thomas deal. 

It's in line what the market commands, and based on his production, it's a steal.

Not overpaid at all. Pretty much in line with the market. Three years ago Victor Cruz got 9 million per year, with the amount of wage inflation the league has had the last few years 10-11 million a year is just fine, and now Hurns can play knowing his future is protected.

But, you said 4 year 32 million. Which is 8 per year. Being that this is an extension and we have him for the next 5 years, his 2016 salary is 600k.so we essentially have him for 5 years for 40.6 million. Which is pretty much 8 per year...
