Is Yannick a better LEO fit than Fowler?

Meh, a LEO is all speed and bending the edge cause he lines up well outside the OT. An RDE usually lines up just outside of the tackles shoulder.

I dunno, I guess its silly.

Quote:The first two are against southern Florida so I'd take them with a heavy pinch of salt. He has a good set of moves and counter moves already in his arsenal,a bit more strength and he can be very good.
Would you take away Fowler's 3 sacks vs. that vaunted Kentucky OL?

Nah its easier to discredit Yannick dominating a 1st round OT.

No I'd take them with a pinch of salt too. What's your point?

Quote:Ummmm.... Isn't that what a LEO is??
The LEO is the best pass rusher on the team and a guy who is athletic and can be moved around. Doesn't matter as much how the guy wins as long as he wins. The LEO is lined up in a wide 9 position anyway so being able to bend isn't as big of a deal since they have a more direct path to the QB.

Watching Myles Jacks interview, they asked him about Yannick and he says "Yannick is a beast man."

Love it.

After reading those two articles, I think we finally have the horses to make this Seattle scheme work.

In a 4-3 set:

LEO - Fowler

3T - Malik

NT - Roy

5t - Odrick

WILL - Telvin

MIKE - Poz

SAM - Jack

CBS - Prince, House

FS - Gipson

SS - Cyp

3-4 :

5t : Odrick

NT : Miller

3T: Malik

Dual LEOS : Fowler and Ngakoue (Skuta, Holmes also)

MLB : Poz and Jack

Nickel (lightning):

Dual LEOS : Fowler, Ngakoue

3t : Jackson or Marks or Day

5t : Davis

LBS : Jack and Telvin

CBS : Prince, House

NB : Colvin

NB/SS : Ramsey

FS : Gipson

This topic is ridiculous. Two guys that haven't taken a snap in the NFL yet.

No we don't know who is or who will be better. Let's hope both guys dominate like Justin tuck and Pierre Paul did semi recently with the Giants.

That's not to count out the other two new guys as well.

Bottom line is our pass rush could be quite dangerous.

This isn't about which player is better, just which is the best position fit. I think everyone acknowledges Fowler is the better all around player.

No doubt about that at all.

1. He shows a dip, rip, and bend around the tackle against Georgia, Kentucky, and Tennessee

2. He shows a bullrush against Kentucky in 2013 and East Carolina in 2014

3. He shows a spin move against Vadnerbilt and FSU

But Fowler wins with his hands and inside moves. He is a maestro with his hands. Ngakoue not even close to Fowler with his hand usage. On top of Fowler being bigger, faster, stronger, more physical, way better against the run, and being able to drop back in coverage. And he can rush from any stance.

But Ngakoue is better at bending the edge and winning with finesse speed moves.

I'm pretty sure you just agreed with KY here. Your description of Fowler and Ngakoue are pretty close to his.

The difference is that genie implying Fowler never made such plays which is not true.

Tired of it? Not a chance considering this is the first time we've actually had legitimate talent at these positions.

My point is that it doesn't matter. Our players are generally very versatile and interchangable. Fowler won't always be at Leo, jack won't always be in the same spot, etc...

Everyone is going to move around and picking out who is better where is a job better left for the coaches.

Yannick is great at the pass rush but weak against the run (is the knock on him) but how is he against pass coverage?

The LEO is played a lot like a WOLB which plays to Fowler Jr's strength a bit more so while Yannick could be a better pass rusher than Fowler I would think for 1st or 2nd downs that Fowler would likely start.

I don't want our players moving around I need them to play a single role for Madden

i just rewatched Fowler's Georgia tape. That one single game is better than anything Ngakoue has on tape. He showed pretty much everything you want to see out of an edge rusher. He set a very physical edge, was disruptive in the run game, was throwing both tackles and the tight end around, looked good dropping in coverage, showed great hand usage, a nice club move, bent around the edge several times, rushed from a 3 and 4 point stance and standing up, and played with his hair on fire the whole game for good measure. If Fowler can play like he did against Georgia every week for us then he'll be a special player.
