Quote:It's that Noles mentality baby, love it If being a Seminole has anything to do with it, we just got a lot better mentally when Jalen Ramsey was drafted. Quote:I knew Telvin Smith would eventually become a leader of this team and lead by example. Can't wait to watch this team this season I would not be surprised if he is our defensive captain next season. This is what team captains do. Quote:Drafting Telvin will go down as the biggest 5th round steal of this franchise. I heard Telvin dropped to the fifth round because he only weighed 200 pounds. How much higher would he have been picked if he was 40-50 pounds heavier? Quote:Players who have won championships should take a leadership role. They know what it takes to make it to the top. What if there are no championship winners on the team?
Quote:The picks that hurt the most were the first round trade ups. The lesson learned is not so much to not trade up, but to not trade up for a specific player. When you do, you're almost always picking a player of lesser talent over others available. We trade up and take the Jedi knight Derrick Harvey at #8 overall, and then move up to select Blaine Gabbert ahead of JJ Watt. What really hurt with Gene Smith was that we traded picks that were too valuable to move up. Like a future second rounder for a third round pick, or a second round pick to move up in the first. Compare that with what Caldwell has done: 2013: No trade ups. Traded down once in the fourth. 2014: Traded a 5th round pick to turn a 3rd round pick into a 2nd round pick to get Allen Robinson. Then used a 6th round pick to turn a 4th into a 3rd. Gene Smith on the other hand turned a 2nd round pick into a 3rd round pick. 2015: Swapped places with the Jets for a 7th rounder 2016: Traded a 5th to move up a couple of spots to grab Myles Jack When we've moved up under Caldwell, the price has been low. (Part of me wonders if trading Eugene Monroe created good will with the Ravens, which allowed us to get a more favorable trade here). When we moved up under Gene Smith the price was too high. Gene fell in love with players, and other teams were able to ask what they wanted, because they knew they'd get it.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

We've traded with the Ravens to get Jack so this has some merit. In the back of my mind though I wonder if they have some resentment towards the Jags because Monroe has been horrible in Baltimore. Lol.

Its been a while that I even responded in here but i kept reading every day. To see the same people complain when there isn't a reason to. Telvin Smith is being a leader trying to get the team mindset focused going into a season that they are not use to and have to face. A season of HIGH expectation not by just the fans of Duval or just one or two writers here and there . For the first time in a long time the same opinion is coming from every where in the NFL universe. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. Not two years from now , not next year but THIS YEAR.

Expectations have been set. And it's not just by the media. This is our year to put up or shut up.

This is what you want to see. He's confident. As he should be. Just wait until Ramsey gets his feet wet. He's another guy that's not afraid to speak up and light a fire under his teammates. This defense could be lethal starting this season. And it's going to be FUN watching them grow as a unit. This is what happened in Seattle and Denver and Carolina. You add depth and talent on all three levels and stars will be born in time.

You either die as a good poster, or live long enough to become the troll.
