If belichick gets his hands on McCaffrey we're all doomed.

So I take it you have never seen Christian McCaffrey play before........

I went to the Rose Bowl this year and saw McCaffrey in person.  He is most definitely not Toby Gerhart.  He torched my Hawkeyes like we were a FCS school.

At this point, which is way too early, and assuming we ll be picking in the late teens/early twenties, I see us targeting an interior olineman, strong safety, or linebacker. I'll try and put together a list of potential prospects later today or tomorrow.

We will draft a Center. And we will be able to pick the best Center in the country.

Pretty safe to assume you based this on the fact they're both white and play(ed) for Stanford.

Quote:How is Watson a worse prospect than Goff or Wentz?

Watson is more athlete than QB. I don't think he has what it takes to make it in the NFL at all.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

I'd take Watson over Goff and Wentz every day of the week.

I wouldn't. Goff is really inconsistent but he makes NFL throws and shown some real flashes at Cal. I don't think he has the consistency to be elite. He kind of reminds me a lot of Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Carson wentz, on the other hand, has tons of potential. He has every physical tool it takes to be an elite NFL QB, but he is all based on potential.

I'd rather have a guy like Fitz or a guy with tons of upside than a guy like Watson who doesn't have an NFL arm.

It depends on how 2016 pans out.

My first thought would be this. Let's say we finish 9 - 7 and just sneak into the play-offs as the 6th seed or just miss like the Jets in 2015. That should put us up in the high teens. So I am going to assume Caldwell retains Bradley in this case and Khan feels secure going into 2017 with a young defense gaining a year together. With Joeckel not being picked up on the 5th year option and Cyprien possibly out the door. I'd say remember these three names.

1. Eddie Jackson - S - Alabama - He should have a good 2016 run. If Cyprien falters in 2016 we will need another young safety. Jackson would fit right on in. May need to move Gipson to SS or try Jackson out at SS. He has enough size to get it done.

2. Roderick Johnson - OT - FSU - Fits a need at LT if Beachum can't fit that need in 2016. Big kid, can move. Has protected Winston and is paving the way now for Galvin Cook.

3. Christian McCaffrey - RB - More of a wildcard pick. He's too versatile not too consider if this team feels comfortable with it's roster going into 2017 and doesn't have an immediate need. McCaffrey would give us a Bush type receiver/runner on our offense. He can carry and he can catch and run. I like what he brings to the table and I think he needs to be considered. He's coming from a good family. His dad was a good receiver for years in the league.

Wentz looks the part but other than that I don't see anything special,I think the step up will be too much for him. I get the Fitz comparison but that's one of the reasons I wouldn't draft him. Very jekyl and Hyde.

Watson has a good arm,not a rocket by any means but its good enough. His deep ball is actually quite good. His release is a bit funky though. He has everything you want ,my only concern is his durability. He needs to get up to around 220 to be a full time starter in the NFL.

Since we're going to be drafting late in round 1, I will say Christian McCaffrey.

And for the guy who said he's Toby Gerhart 2.0, here is some video to set you straight.  Does this look like Toby Gerhart???

It's the speed and the moves and the way he can cut at full speed.   My favorite cut is at the 2:44 mark.

His father, Ed McCaffrey, played pro football for the Broncos.

His maternal grandfather, Dave Sime, won a silver medal in the 100 meter dash in the 1960 Olympics.

He runs way too upright and I really don't see anything truly special about him.

He will be a middle of the pack RB.

I see McCaffrey being like a bigger Marshall Faulk when he enters the league. With elite return ability

I hope we aren't picking that high in round 1! But hey if we can get Ramsey and Jack who knows what can happen.
