He was cross training to learn all positions along the offensive line. Not just left tackle. He now has experience at tackle, guard, and center.

Regardless, it doesn't matter. According to the jaguars official website he's a Center. Until that changes then he's our starting Center.

I love our draft, no complaints!

But man I'd loved to have Tretola at guard with Cann/Linder at center

Quote:I knew that they couldn't fix all the problems with the draft especially when they missed out on some players in Free Agency, but the team has improved overall a lot after Free Agency & The draft..

Fixing every position in one offseason is only possible if you already are a playoff team. We need one more year to truly say this team is fixed. But we are getting close and hopefully will not need as many upgrades next year.

I don't understand this Linder at center thing. He was very good at RG before his injury. If it is not broke, don't fix it.

Disclaimer, the following comments are based on my own opinion and are not facts.

IMO, Blake Bortles doesn't want Luke Bowanko as his starting center.  You know how placekickers are real particular with the guy that holds the ball for him on kicks (usually a QB).  I think the same is true with some QBs with their Center.

=============================

When Blake prefered Stefen Wisniewski as his starting center when asked about it....

"Yeah, it feels good," Bortles said. "He feels good. That sounds weird."

The laughter had only begun to ease when Bortles inadvertently insulted his teammate: "His butt’s bigger than Bo’s."

The 6-foot-6, 300-pound Bowanko was offended.

"No," Bowanko said. "No. No. No. No."

Kickers prefer quarterbacks to hold the ball? That is news to me. Most holders are punters.

My understanding is he is the best Offensive Lineman on the Jaguars roster and the fact that he played some center as a freshman in College is why they are thinking about moving him to Center.  I think it is a mistake he is far superior to Cann at RG and not all great players at one position are necessary great at another.

Maybe they plan on trading Chad Henne or QB Brandon for another team's center?

I dunno but it is a huge problem...

How about move Cann to center? He has more experience at that position than Linder.

Cann struggled at times to play Right Guard as a rookie when Linder was injured, and the Jaguars coaching staff want a player to become great at the position they place him before they consider moving him (such as Aaron Colvin had to master inside before trying outside, and Linder mastered RG and now they consider him at Center)... I dont necessary agree with their mindset but its how they coach.

No, teams HCs prefer it because of FG fakes but yeah I do think a lot of them are punters... not sure...

Quote:Luke Bowanko is a left tackle. If Tyson Alualu is cut (TBD) yes, we will need a fullback.

Alualu playing FB last year is evidence that they don't need one. In other words, even without Alualu, they'll find someone on the roster who can play the position when needed. There are several players on the roster who can conceivably fill the role.

I'm thinking Bowanko was concentrating on learning the RT spot.

Interesting read...from ESPN source

Defensive coordinator Todd Wash flew to Maryland on Monday and worked out Ngakoue. He said he recorded the workout on his phone and general manager Dave Caldwell and coach Gus Bradley were impressed. The Jaguars view him as a situational rusher. “He had a great workout,” Wash said. “We’re very excited about him as an edge rusher. He’s got to continue to work versus the run but where we’re built and how things are going right now we see him as a situational pass-rusher.”
