Poll: Resign Hurns Now Or Later
Extend his contract now. He has proven himself.
Wait and make him prove it another season.

Extend Allen Hurns' Contract Now Or Wait?

#41

I'd say pay him now.

There is a thought behind waiting in that he'd be an RFA allowing the Jaguars to slap a first-round pick tag on him. The idea of course being that we might possibly land a first round pick for a guy we got undrafted. But personally I'd rather just keep him in the fold.

Just sign him. Keep setting the precedent that Jacksonville is the place young hungry players want to be because they'll be allowed to prove themselves and succeed, and not be jerked around to the greatest extent the CBA allows once they do show they're great.

The others are not eligible. Next offseason is the soonest for the rest of that group.

What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

I have no question about his work ethic or skills, but I would prefer to see if he can remain healthy until closer to his contract time. It would be typical Jag luck to sign him now to a big contract and then.... bam! He goes down with a serious injury that is likely to impede him the rest of his career.
