Mike Furrey played WR and safety for Detroit and Cleveland if I'm not mistaken.
I think he started on both sides one year? Quote:David Lamm could take his place at WR..........He's a possession receiver. Once he has possession of the ball, you'll have to wait about eight hours to get it back--if you want it that badly. Quote:Mike Furrey played WR and safety for Detroit and Cleveland if I'm not mistaken. As an emergency fill-in, I thought. I don't remember him being a regular starter at either position, though he was a top reserve at both. Quote:He's a possession receiver. Never both at the same time. ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Mike Furrey played WR and safety for Detroit and Cleveland if I'm not mistaken. Good find. 2005 he started 13 games at safety - but it was 2006 and 2007 that he was at used primarily at receiver and his snaps at S were dramatically decreased when that happened.
I say they make him bulk up and put him at LEO. Good luck throwing at his side when he's rushing you. He'll high point the ball and snatch it right out of thin air.
Quote:My other question would be, has there been a modern-day player whose primary position was on offense that also played significant snaps on defense? The only examples that I can think of are DBs dabbling at WR. The last players were Troy Brown with the Patriots. And Devin Hester with the Bears, but he was more of a return specialist. The guy that did it more than anyone was Troy Brown. That year the Patriots went through all there Safeties.

Quote:I was. But uhhh, it made sense at the time. I just thought about myself. 6'4 240 supremely athletic and very fast for my size. At 38 yrs old, I be killin it at safety in flag. Against yung beaus at that. So I was just thinking... I'm not the only one that wants to hear more about this am I?
Quote:I'm not the only one that wants to hear more about this am I? lol! the ole lean in,fist on the chin huh? "...so, tell me more" Its true. I was a couple grades under Fred but by the time I moved back to South Bay and attended Glades Central, Fred was already at Florida. I told u that so that you'd have a bit of history and know why at this age and size, no lie, I truly am as fast or faster than most of the young guys I play against. One thing we did pretty much every day growing up in The Muck is race. Like all day. Chasin rabbits outta cane fields and all. And the 240-245 that Im currently at is rather solid. I look like 6'4 225. Just regret not having my head on str8 in H.S. 2016 Al Bundy

Quote:Robinson is too valuable to this team as a receiver. There is a reason why players don't play both sides of the ball anymore in the NFL. They are more competitive at their greater skill set when they aren't burning energy at another position. I understand why it makes sense as a concept - but the NFL moved on from it for a reason. This sums up my thoughts well. ARob would probably be a great FS, but this team needs him too much at WR.
