I still have my Smeenge jersey.  Won't get rid of that one unless it falls apart.

I think I just like saying Smeenge.

Pass Rushing Off The Edge: Brackens - So well over a decade

Pass Rush Inbetween The Tackles: Stroud and Henderson - So about another decade

Safety: Donovin Darius and Marlon McCree - It's been another decade probably

Cornerback: Rashean Mathis - Again, probably about another decade

Linebacker: Kevin Hardy - Nearly two decades

So, in all fairness, this defense has lacked a consistent presence in every aspect on defense for nearly a decade or longer. Jack Del Rio may have been incompetent with offense but the defense was much more productive and dominant than it's been over the last six to eight years. Same with Coughlin's defenses' and teams in general.

The only player that stands out like a sore thumb on our defense is Telvin Smith at the moment. You watch any game or listen to any of the commentating during the road games and they can't shut up about him. Telvin this, Telvin that. "Can't do the screens on Telvin's side". "See, when Telvin's out they can do the screens more effectively". He was the only player I was fixated on when the defense was on the field. And 9 times out of 10 he was always around the football.

He's the one player that, in all fairness, could end up being a steady pro-bowl caliber player if Caldwell could add pieces around him to continue to allow him to use his speed and athletic ability better. The front four is weak and therefore the secondary can be exposed heavily. Posluszny is a liability in pass coverage. Not convinced by Skuta in what I saw either. Our defense is just an eye sore. Odrick panned out for what he's worth. Marks couldn't stay healthy. Miller had his moments. But other than that, the rest of the front four was abysmal at best. Just curious to see how Caldwell attacks this side of the field now with free agency approach and the combine coming up with the draft.

If the offense maintains it's play from last year and just improves a bit more in the running game and Blake can cut back on the interceptions and mental issues. A 16th - 20th ranked defense would be enough to get this team into a wildcard slot. A top 10 defense would probably secure the division and one of the top seeds. That's a possibility for 2016.

Quote:Stroud and Henderson impacted games.

These were the last two teams had to account for.  Other guys may have earned attention, but not quite the same as these two.
