Todd Wash Promoted to Defensive Coordinator

Btw, why the hate for Wash as a dline coach? He did well in Seattle and with what he's had here to work with on the line he's done solid. Clem is over the hill and Branch is a massive bust that just doesn't have any moves. Nothing you can blame Wash on. Add some talent and I think some of you will be surprised. Coaching can only do so much for players.

I wanted a fresh set of eyes, but Wash was better than a lot of possibilities I saw floating around, and that's a fact.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner! It amazes me how many people are too stupid to realize the most important thing is talent on the field (GM's job), followed by health of the players. Also, the HC is responsible if there are mistakes on the depth chart, not the DC. In other words, people are putting too much blame on the assistant coaches.

You want to see an example of this? Just look at the Seahawks. No matter who their DC is, they have one of the best defenses in the NFL. We all know the Legion of Boom and seven guys in front of them aren't on the same talent level as our 11 starters.

I honestly don't think you have any room to call anyone "stupid" on this board..

Specifically the best defensive players willing to play in Jacksonville - and the fifth overall draft pick, of course. That will be a big boost to our defense.

Plus the 3rd overall from just last year. Plus Marks and Sample.

Yep, it sucked not having a chance to watch Dante Fowler play. He was supposed to be a strong candidate for Defensive Rookie of the Year.

We get worse from going to Babich to Wash, on top of likely adding a couple fa's, a draft class, our 3rd overall pick from last year, and our best defensive player coming back in Marks?

Umm....what?

If you seriously don't think we add anyone significant via free agency with all the money and the obvious glaring holes that our GM, who signs these players, has stated, than idk what to tell you dude.

How do we know going from Babich to Wash is some major upgrade? Washburn has proven nothing.

Look at Babich's resume and what he's done at every stop in college and the nfl. He has been awful at just about wvery stop hes been at when he has any more power than being a LB coach. It doesnt take much to upgrade from that. As for Wash and his lack of experience, coaches have to to start somewhere, Wash is a guy that was going to get a chance at some point in the not so distant future for someone.

Yawn. Has to be the most unimpressive hire since Mularkey. Oh well. So now who takes Wash's old job?
10 years ago we had Bob Hope, Johnny Cash, and Steve Jobs..... Please don't die, Kevin Bacon.

Dante Fowler and Sen'Derrick Marks are coming back. At this point the favorite to be our first round pick is Jalen Ramsey (several draft analysts are mocking him at #5). Then there is the #38 pick, who likely also will be a defensive player.

Yeah!!  We need somebody proven!!

Look who the Eagles, Giants, Bucs, Browns and Dolphins hired as their proven head coaches.  They know how to do it!

Why do you call him Washburn in your second sentence?

Nobody said Babich to Wash is a "major" upgrade.

JW it's not nice to call people "stupid".

Quote:Absolutely not. We were still in the playoff race after Week 15. Teams usually don't go to the playoffs after firing assistant coaches. It would be like giving up on the season because Todd Wash has never been a DC

Playoffs were a long shot. Should've been fired after the 2nd titans game.
