Trade Lee? Ryan O' thinks it's possible

#41

Why would a team give up a 2nd round pick for a player two years removed from being a 2nd rounder, who hasn't done anything noteworthy? It would like buying a 2 year old used vehicle for same price it was purchased when it was new.

Quote:I agree. He has made a little progress. And by that I mean he saw the field and was actually somewhat productive towards the end there. His value is only going to go up at this point considering his injury history. Not a good time to trade him.
Or down if he continues with the unfortunate injury history.

He has a ton of potential, so sacrificing that would have to be strongly considered. BUT, it does appear from everything we hear that Dave is going to go hard in FA for defense, is he at the point of going "all in" though? We've done very well on offense without the help of Lee.

Remember ARob and Hurns will receive lofty extensions if they have a third impressive season. Is there room to afford a trio of receivers? I think not

Nah, no one would give us a 2nd, but maybe a player for player.

Quote:Every player has a price, but I think this is just a beat writer spitballin' while we wait for some real news on the team.

In theory it makes sense because the team is fairly deep at WR and there are a number of promising players stashed on the PS as well.

(Sterling, Copeland, Evans, Benn, and Bailey all have real potential IMO)  Yet, I'm not sure any of them boast the speed that Lee brings to the table.

I'd like to see Lee take on a bit of the role that Torrey Smith had around 2012/2013 with the ravens. They'd send him deep a few times per game and chuck it downfield when he outran the coverage. It worked often enough to be effective, and it was his speed that got him open most of the time.

With Robinson and Hurns sure to draw more attention in 2016 - this could be a very handy weapon in Olson's arsenal.

I second this.

...even though he's dum.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

You'd be selling low by trading Lee now. That doesn't seem wise. Highly doubt we'd sniff anything better than a 4th at this point and I wouldn't consider a 4th a good deal.

Belichick is on record as really liking him and is definitely no stranger to draft day maneuvers. FWIW.
Only a chump boos the home team!

Be very wary of making any kinds of trades or deals with this guy.

He will get the best of you but somehow make it seem like you got a good deal.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

THIS is what happens when you make trades with Belichick.

Quote:There was a tweet/question last night to Ryan O'Halloran (Jags Beat Writer) that asked if he though the Jags would look into trading Marqise Lee for a LEO.

Ryan's response was:

"I think that's why they played him so much late in the year. I'd see what they could get."

With the emergence of both Arob and Hurns and the potential of Greene, this wouldn't be totally crazy. What do you think and do you think we'd have a dance partner?
That wouldnt be smart

Hurns is going into the last year of his deal and could leave, plus you take away weapons from Bortles.

No team is gonna give up a great LEO for Lee, we have more then enough money to sign a guy in FA.

Greene has been great as a PR, but as a WR he is avg like 4.9 ypc lol, he's not even on the same level as Lee as a WR even when Lee was a rookie he was better then Greene

Bingo

Trade Lee to the Pats and he becomes the next Wes Welker and everybody says how Dave Caldwell sucks

I think you may be underestimating Greene a bit. I think he could end up being a really good slot WR as well as PR.

I'm making no proclamations this is happening, I thought it was an interesting and actually somewhat viable idea. We are really set at WR and have depth. No, you don't trade away a weapon, but Lee hasn't proven he is that. If you can (IF) get an up an coming Defensive guy, I think you do it.

O'Halloran is a moron, for the record.

I'd see how Lee does this season and then flog him at trade deadline if he's surplus to requirmemts. Might get a 3rd.

Quote:Lee has first round talent and athleticism.  If he can stay healthy (seemingly big if), he has the potential to blow past Hurns on the depth chart and challenge Robinson as top dog.  I believe it would be foolish to trade him at this point unless someone made us an offer we couldn't refuse.  Don't see it happening.

I don't think Lee could challenge Robinson as #1. Lee has top end speed but AR15 is significantly better in every other category.

I seriously doubt the team is going to trade Lee this year unless they are offered something they simply can't turn down, like a 1st or 2nd round pick.  I don't expect to see that on the table.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
