So far all NFL.com reports state they are still open to trading him for a second round pick.

None of that has anything to do with Sean Payton. What are you talking about?

The Browns scheduled an interview with Bengals OC Hue Jackson for Sunday, the day after Cincinnati's wild card game.

However, there also is a report that Jackson wants to put off all interviews "because those jobs are not the Steelers."

The 49ers requested an interview with Jackson.

I would think there is more to the story, right?  He didn't do too bad of a job last year with a rookie QB.

That being said I would take Lovie here in a second.

Here's an article from the Bucs website on the decision.

Maybe they were afraid of losing Koetter?

I could see that.  There is some Twitter chatter about him being expected to be their next coach.  They'll do a few interviews still but it would make sense for them to promote Koetter.

<p class="" style="color:rgb(41,47,51);font-family:'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">With Lovie Smith fired I would expect Dirk Koetter to be named head coach within the week. They still will interview a few other candidates.

Gus should be on the phone with Lovie right this second.

I'd easily take Lovie here as a DC, but I can't imagine him accepting. He's been a head coach since 2004 and will likely wait out another opportunity.

With Marrone on the verge of getting another gig soon (not sure why), Movie could come in as "assistant head coach" and would be an obvious in-house replacement if Gus tanks next year midseason.

If Caldwell adds talent like I expect him to on the defensive side, this defense is poised for a big improvement next year.  It would look good for Lovie to "turn this defense around" next year.

Doug Marrone was good with the Bills. They were 9-7 two years ago. He is the AHC here, not just an OL coach. So it actually makes sense that teams want to interview him.

Of course, Lovie Smith is not going to accept a DC job. He would have done that a few years ago, but instead chose to take a year off coaching.

Before Lovie Smith lost his job, the Jets fired STC Bobby April.

The Colts hired Ravens LB coach Ted Monchino for the DC job.

I could see it happening.  He could easily sign a 1 year deal here and collect his paychecks from the Bucs and Jags until he gets a HC gig he REALLY wants.  Aka Marrone?

I can't see Lovie Smith thinking about it. He took a year off coaching just to wait for a head job after the Bears fired him. Any Jaguars fan who thinks someone who did that would be interested in a DC job is just dreaming.
