It's not all bad/the Jaguars have one of the best situations in the NFL

he has not drafted or signed one big time, elite, transcendent talent yet. I'm waiting, Caldwell.

Sergio Brown and Cyprien have played good at times this season. Both need to be more consistent. Colvin was a 4th round pick. He's provided depth. Do you expect him to be a perennial pro bowler?

We were told by all the powers-that-be that Colvin was a 1st round talent if not for the knee.

looks like another Caldwell bust

Sanders was late round.... he was serviceable and then expendable.

Colvin is good. Also mid to late round.

Gratz is average, picked in the 3rd iirc? If he ends up being a solid 4th DB, that isn't terrible.

Gerhart, bad FA signing (it happens) Watson was another one that didn't pan out.

But Miller and Marks? Very good signings.

Skuta? Great signing.

House, good signing, we don't need to reach in the draft for corners because of him and Colvin, though if we can get a true shut down guy, it wouldn't hurt to get one.

Fowler we're still waiting, but if he comes back 100% will likely be an elite, transcendent talent.

And I'm sorry Bortles didn't come out of the gate throwing 50 TDs but he is developing into a very good QB and shows signs that he could hone his craft to be one of the best.

Cyp might be "average" but GMs can't hit home runs with 2nd rounders often.

I've said it elsewhere and I'll say it again. Caldwell has not been perfect, but no GM ever is. He has done well enough blowing a roster up and rebuilding from ground zero that I wouldn't dare ask for a change there.

We finally have an offense that looks legit. A QB with a few weapons around him. The D has some pieces, just needs some glue (like a Kam Chancellor).

This is because of Caldwell.

You want to go back to having Gabbert, Harvey, Groves, Porter, D.Flo, Prosinski type teams?

Have at it.

Yea he should just probably give up on the play after the runner gets past him

Just a random thought.

Instead of splitting your FA money between multiple busts, why not just make a true impact FA an offer they can't refuse. Caldwell's FA track record is beginning to be a huge problem, but people seem to give him a pass because you can't "make" free agents come here.

Could have offered Mack more money that the Browns never would have matched and had one more piece of the OL solidified for a long time.

Should have signed Suh. He's transformed the Dolphins defense.

Then you guys would be screaming about overpaying for players. All indications is Alex Mack will opt out in the offseason so Dave will have another crack at him.

Watson Gerhart Beadles Pierce

That's the bad.

Skuta House Brown Parnell Wiz Marks Miller

That's the good.

missing any? He's hitting about 75% on "prove it" deals. And "bigger" money contracts he's about 50/50.

Not terrible.

Remember Ross' vacation. D.Lo Jerry Porter, those kinds of FAs will kill you as a GM.

Look at what happened in Miami. Suh big ol deal. 0 big deal production

Pierce was a waiver wire claim.

@DocHOlliday, that's quite the illogical leap. Who said that he should give up on the play?

You are right. FA isn't about getting "deals". Typically, a guy is what he is and you really aren't outsmarting anybody by getting them.  If you want a true impact FA, you will likely have to overpay for him.

Of course, this theory doesn't hold true for teams like the Patriots who can bring in a guy you have never heard of and make him a pro-bowler.
