Quote:Your opinion on this is what's silly.

Actually, my opinion makes perfect sense. How many companies do you know that give bonus' when the company is doing terrible? Probably zero I would imagine? Why wouldn't bonus' include a clause of the team actually having to be doing well to achieve them?

Quote:There is the other side of that as well. A guy who thinks he is healthy enough because he is chasing the bonus when he really shouldn't be playing. Heck, he got a 600K bonus for a meaningless sack in a meaningless game.

These bonus' are silly in the first place.

Well then maybe you should run for NFLPA president and negotiate a different deal.

"Doing terrible" meaning what? NFL teams make a lot of money.

Relating a professional sports athlete and a regular job is pretty absurd. I love it when people do that.

Yes, I agree it is hard to put criteria on what "terrible" is, and I know it will never happen. I am just saying that a guy getting a sack in a game that puts his team at 3-12 and earning 600K on top of his salary in the process is pretty silly.

Playoff bonus', incentives are aces in my book.

Well, and I'm sure the players' agents would love to negotiate with teams that tried to pull a stunt like that.  People are whining that we don't sign enough 'big-money free agents' now.  That certainly would lower the pool of available free agents willing to come to a sub-500 team....eh?

So a great player on a bad team gets a lower bonus than a bad player on a great team.

Excellent plan.

Not saying it will ever happen. Just having a little fun with the possibility of real world business acumen applying to NFL football.

Uh oh.

Anyone want a birthday cake for a "David"?

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Marks and Thomas questionable is somewhat unexpected. I'm not expecting either to play but a surprise would be nice for once.
