Week 4 Games Of Interest

#41

Quote:Being "as good" is pretty self explanatory. Losing to an average Missouri team that was blown out in multiple games is not the calling card of a team "as good" as any team.

Ohio State lost to Virginia Tech. I guess they weren't as good as any body either huh?

Quote:That team was as good as anybody by the end of the year. I guess you are ignorant of the talent they sent to the draft. Google it and you will see why they are struggling on defense this year.

They lost to Alabama by 1 point. Beat Ole Miss and LSU. Destroyed Texas in their bowl game as any good team should. That is why they were hyped preseason, but losing the defensive pieces and their best offensive player are proving costly. Those are the facts. Please keep your agenda out of it.

Lol. They only lost six games, but dammit they were as good as anyone!

And not sure why you listed Texas. Destroying Texas isn't exactly a hard thing to do right now.

Again, lost to Alabama by one point. Beat a very good Ole Miss team. They were expected to be better in 2015 which would have made them top 10 material despite you getting hung up on 6 losses in 2014. When it comes to preseason , how you finish matters and they finished strong. That's just the facts. Deal with it.

It wasn't SEC blowhards that had them ranked high. It was pollsters more unbiased than you. Deal with that too.

Refer to first couple posts for good games. Bigjohn & resident Nole homers derailed the thread.

I'm sorry, but Ole Miss was not a "very good" team last year. They were a good team at best. They were beaten by a terrible Auburn and LSU, and shutout by the juggernaut that was Arkansas. Not to mention they got ramrodded in the bowl game by TCU. And you say I'm the homer LOL.

I really wish FSU would join the SEC now. If losing four to six games makes you a good team, I want some of that.

Bummer... i usually like this thread too.

Think there are a lot of good games this week but not worth the energy to write about them since we need to have another stupid debate about which conference is the best.  Can somebody just make an "SEC vs fans of other conferences" thread and just move all this ... (better not hint at a cuss word).... junk to that thread?  I feel like every other thread around here gets derailed into some kind of 3rd grade shouting match.

Anyways I'll be in Oxford, Miss this weekend.  Should be an awesome time!

Quote:I am 100% against talking up the SEC. I have always hated people doing that because they act like all 12 or 14 teams are much better than everyone else. Get real. Many SEC teams suck but fans keep saying because they are in the SEC it must be better than most teams in the Big Ten, Big 12, or ACC. Ignore the conference name when you are talking about whether a team sucks or not.

He means Gator fans that for some reason don't still support Urban Meyer.

I'm not going to argue about the difference between good and very good.  Your definition of a good team must be limited to just a few if Arkansas was not good by year end 2014.

Teams are up and down throughout the year.  The difference is when FSU has an off night, they usually only win by a touchdown or two because they usually play a team completely inept on offense.  Have an off night against a quality SEC opponent and you will lose.

I'm jealous. I've always wanted to see the Grove on a football Saturday!

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Agree, this is always one of the better threads every week only to have the same argument over and over in it.

If they just banned the use of the word "Arkansas", I think we would be okay.

Ok call me a homer (guilty as charged) but I am looking forward to seeing how all MAC teams do this week against the Power 5.  Thus far they have impressed overall even if the wins have not come.  I am hoping for another strong outing this week.  My hope is that eventually they will be a member of the Power 6 conferences.

I think if you went top 10, the MAC wouldn't be at 6.

I'd go...

6. Mountain West

7. American

8. C-USA

9. MAC

10. Sun Belt

Lol, that is rich.  badger calling out other posters for derailing threads.

This is a bad week for college football.  Snoozer.

gators and vols is one I'm interested in just because of the gators dominance over the vols and how close vols have come to winning recently.  Will vols finally take the next step?  Will gator fans have nightmares with rocky top playing in the back ground?  Or will the gators when a tight one and continue the streak?  Should be a close game.

Okay so I was curious about head to head and I looked it up.

This is a view of the MAC vs every conference.  It is an overall view so historical records are included and not just the most recent, say the last 10 years.  One thing that I took away from this snap shot is the Mid Majors are all pretty close overall.  With that said, from recent history in my mind those power 5 conferences had better not sleep on the mid majors these days regardless of conference.
