I meant trading Bortles to the bench, not in a deal with another team.


And Bortles STILL has the best statistical season a Jags QB ever had. I'm willing to give him this year to see what he's got. If he can play at the level he did after week 16 last year then we'll be fine. :thumbsup:

This. Why trade a 24 year old for who's had the best single season in Jaguars history after one bad year. This is his prove year. This is the year we find out who he is. Don't pick up his option, groom Allen, bring in competition, supplement him with a running back, give him protection with a line, have him with the same coach, and take away all of his excuses. Doesn't work out, then put him on the bench and and prepare for the draft. No one we bring in is going to be a long term option.

Teams can't afford to throw big money to 3 different WRs. Plus hes overrated. Rough him up and folds like a cheap tent and he starts whining. Soft.

Nassib played for Marrone at Syracuse, and was drafted by the Giants under Coughlin.  It's not much of a stretch, like, say, signing Romo or trading for McCarron.  Any one of these situations could play out, although I think Romo is pretty much a definite not happening scenario.  I don't think Coughlin would be remotely interested in bringing in a a guy who can't stay healthy behind the best line in the league.  So, you can take him off your wish list.  McCarron probably winds up staying in Cincy.  Nassib is the most likely option.

Coughlin doesn't have any more insight into Romo's health than any opposing coach or GM in our out of that division.  The one who knows close to what ROMO knows about his health is the guy signing his checks, and the coach he plays for, and they're preparing to part ways.  That tells you all you need to know about the viability of putting all of your eggs in the Romo basket, and completely explains why Houston has been linked to him as the next landing spot.  They've got arguably the worst luck with QBs in the league despite investing tons of money into the position.  This would wind up being more of the same.

I actually like the Nassib idea, and would actually not mind Houston getting him to have a competition with Tom Savage, Brock Osweiler for the starting gig next year, understanding that his price tag wouldn't be crippling.

Easy there FBT, I believe this is a Jaguars fan using a "Pot calling the Kettle black?" example.  :whistling:  Houston is at a spot where adding a legitimate QB could have them competing for the AFC Championship, assuming Romo could stay healthy in the playoffs.
