Republican senators demand investigation into Trump's connections with Russia

Here's the whooooole story, if you have the energy to read that much stuff.

Wikipedia is not reliable in political matters.

Can you put it into your own words?

A short version:

1. Actual E-mails from Hillary and the DNC were posted on Wikileaks.

2. Obama's political appointees who head US intelligence claim it was the Russians who hacked and leaked the info.

3. Wikileaks claims it wasn't the Russians. So do the Russians.

4. It wasn't
a sophisticated hack, implying anyone could do it. One of the two sources (John Podesta's E-mails) was from a phishing attack.

So you are claiming that releasing the truth about Hillary and the DNC is interfering with the election? How is that any different than leaking a ten-year old private conversation by Trump?

"Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?"

Holy cow you get your political and historical research from Wikipedia?

I can understand getting hard science, objective data, etc.

But you cannot, under any circumstance, expect subjective information on Wikipedia to be reliable. It is guaranteed to have a bias or spin, especially on political or historical matters.

C'mon son.

Here is a timeline of Trump’s known connections to Russia:

1987: Trump was invited to Moscow by the Soviet ambassador to the United States to discuss luxury hotel developments. Trump later told Playboy magazine that his plans to build hotels in Moscow failed because the country “was out of control and the leadership knows it.” Four years later, on Christmas Day, the Soviet Union officially dissolved, and Russians who had been allowed to buy state-owned enterprises amassed enormous fortunes.

1996: While wrapping up a series of bankruptcies in New York, Trump talked of building a replica of his Trump Tower in Moscow and traveled there to discuss renovating the Moskva and Rossiya hotels, according to Bloomberg News. The bankruptcies led to a change in Trump’s business model: Instead of building projects from the ground up, he signed licensing agreements that in some cases gave him an ownership stake in properties that bore his name without putting up any of his own money. The Trump Organization continued to seek wealthy investors in Russia.

Dozens of condominiums in Trump World Tower in midtown Manhattan were bought by Russians in the late 1990s, said Dolly Lenz, a real estate broker who sold many of the units. Many buyers sought an audience with Trump, whose business acumen they respected, Lenz said.

Early 2000s: The Trump Organization developed several projects abroad, many of them involving Russian money.

2007: Trump debuted his Trump Super Premium Vodka at the Millionaire’s Fair in Moscow. Large orders for the gold-glazed spirit followed, but the brand fizzled by 2009, according to The New York Times.

2008: Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., told investors in Moscow that the Trump Organization had trademarked the Donald Trump name in Russia and planned to build housing and hotels in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Sochi, and sell licenses to other developers, the Russian daily Kommersant reported. “Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets,” Trump Jr. said at the time. “We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia."

Trump Jr. traveled to Russia a half-dozen times in 18 months looking for deals, but none materialized. He said there were plenty of investment opportunities, but the business environment was dangerous and trustworthy partners hard to find. “It really is a scary place,” he said, according to eTurboNews, an online business publication.

2010: Trump’s next big U.S. project, the Trump SoHo in New York, was built with partner Bayrock Group, founded by Tevfik Arif, a former Soviet official.

2013: Trump brought the Miss Universe Pageant to Moscow, funded by $20 million from Russian billionaire Aras Agalarov. The venue was Agalarov’s Crocus City Hall on the outskirts of Moscow. Trump took part in a music video with Agalarov’s son, Emin.

2016: Trump's presidential campaign manager, Paul Manafort, resigned in August amid reports that he worked on the political campaign of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, who had been forced to flee office because of his pro-Russian stance.

Saying he has no ties is an alternative fact.

It's nice to have the media criticizing the President once more. We went 8 years without it, after all. It's too bad they have to make up or exaggerate facts to do it.

1.) Russia has the huge alcohol market. They produce the 5th-most Vodka and are top-10 in alcohol consumption.

2.) From 2000-2007, Russian saw a housing boom, and Trump, believe it or not, owns a lot of property. When Trump visited Russia, the market started to slow which would explain why no deals came through.

3.) I don't know anything about Bayrock Group, but they're a real estate and development company.

4.) I don't know what to say. They paid him $20 million to host it there. He'd be stupid not to and I'm not sure why business deals with Russians implies that he's working with the Russian government.

5.) He resigned because they were going to replace him. Trump didn't want the distraction since that was around the beginning of when the media started portraying Trump as a psuedo-Russian operative or ... something. KellyAnne Conway had a great reputation at the time, and she came in and led them successfully.

In other words, if a handful of business deals (over 10 years) from a billionaire business man dealing with one of the biggest markets in the world, is the most evidence you have then you don't actually have evidence.

It's evidence he has ties. Someone posted he didn't. Now what sort of political ties he has remains to be seen.

Being a businessman, doing business with businessmen in other countries, it doesn't mean you have ties.

If you say so. I'm sure whatever connections he have are deeper than vodka, pissing on hookers, and hotels. The truth will come out.

OK and that has as much evidence as the claims that Obama is a Muslim. You can choose to believe what you want (obviously), but you simply don't have enough evidence to reasonably come to that decision.

Republican senators called Tuesday for a full and open investigation into President Trump’s connections to Russia, a startling crack in party unity as the White House rushed to regroup after the departure of national security advisor Michael Flynn over his admission that he misled administration officials about his contacts with a Russian diplomat.

“We should look into it exhaustively so that at the end of this process nobody wonders whether there was a stone left unturned, and shouldn't reach conclusions before you have the information that you need to have to make those conclusions,” Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), a member of the Senate intelligence committee and vice chairman of the Senate Republican conference, told a St. Louis radio station.

Shouldn't the alleged Russian emails that proved hacking occurred be enough to prove that it could have happened? That's what I don't understand about these Neoconservatives like McCain and Cheney who opposed a Trump presidency. And the Neoliberals like Obama and Clinton who were taking shots at Russia during the election and telling them to "cut it out".

If you have proof. Reveal it. Stop beating around the bush with it. Reveal the documents. Produce them. And end the disputes and debate. Should be relatively easy. So far it seems like they're blowing smoke out of their [BAD WORD REMOVED] though. And anyone with eyes. Especially the 50M who voted for Trump and the rest of the country who didn't partake in this two party bull [BAD WORD REMOVED]. They can see there's a power play and struggle going on with the deep state and this current administration.

People keep crying about Trump being Putin's puppet "allegedly". When, it's been proven that a month before Obama's 2008 election that Citigroup had pretty much picked out his entire cabinet and team for him. So who was the real puppet after all these years? I am not even a big fan of Trump because I can't stand our political system to begin with. But you lefties really need to get your [BAD WORD REMOVED] together and start calling these spades a spade when you can clearly see them....
