I saw that. One particular 3rd and short Trev lined up under center, handed off to ETN, who was met in the backfield immediately lol
But at least they were switching it up

I found it odd that we had fans screaming for TL to go under center, rollout and make more PA throws when it was clear the staff was trying to let his knee heal without jeopardizing his health any more than they had to. 

Pederson was clear after the saints game that his runs in that game were scrambles initiated by the QB and they had taken a number of things out of the playbook until his knee wasn't in danger of being damaged further. He wasn't supposed to be running with the ball in that game but they obviously weren't forbidding it. 

We've apparently reached the point where all parties have agreed he's either healed up enough to take more risk or they simply are willing to change course on protecting him in order to regain more offensive production. 

He sure looks like the knee isn't bothering him, but it's pretty tough to know what condition that ligament is in currently. Hopefully it really is healed enough that he'd not going to tweak it getting rolled up in a busted play under center.

Let's see but the obvious answer is that he's not as bad as he looked for us. That in turn invites new questions...

Teams take flyers on reclamation projects all the time. If the gamble pays off it costs very little. Odds are not good, but every team had a scouting report on that kid, and clearly the SF front office had enough green check marks on theirs to spend a roster spot on him. 

Might work out - might not - but Bartch was definitely not ready for the spotlight in September/October. He was the only guy on the line as bad as Fortner. 

I have zero concern with the loss. That interior line needs new blood next year. Not some kid who put on 100 pounds drinking meat smoothies so he could weigh just enough to get manhandled by NFL DTs.

That BS play vs Indy still angers me. Game's over man just hand it off or drop back and dump it off to keep the clock running. We get way too fancy for our own good sometimes. That said, Trevor does look like he's nearing 100%

Passes the eye test for me. He did have a predominantly clean and easy pocket to step up into, and, if you recall, a few times where he scrambled or moved up to make a play, including that TD to Ridley with the off balance mechanics, it was due to Harrison losing containment.

All-in-all. A lot of things went right on Sunday. The biggest, noticeable difference was Lawrence's ability to move, flow, buy time and scramble while keeping his eyes downfield comfortably throughout most of the game. That's a big part of his game and it appears it's now back in full swing.

We see he can strike intermediate and deeper routes much better when afforded this protection.

Will be fun to analyze the new LT/LG combo and their impact on this outcome.

The run blocking was still abysmal outside 4 or 5 plays.
I'm beginning to think the blocking scheme Pederson has cooked up along with the Rauscher coaching and development is not jiving. I'd like to see Pederson/Press/Rauscher change this run blocking scheme up - but I doubt we see that in season.
Some of the ZBS stuff looks really convoluted. Looks amazing when it works because the gaps get huge, but the success rate is low right now.

O Line has been playing well - consistently well - for the entire month of November, except for the 49ers game where we were clearly out classed.  

To be honest, most games even in October had the O-Line protecting Lawrence fairly well, but with some hiccups.  I'd call October an inconsistent month for the O-Line.  But they were still right around the middle of the pack in terms of success rates.  

Pretty proud of how well the group played today.  They truly proved that it's the play calling that is suspect and not the O-Line.  Even with Cam getting hurt, they all stepped up and kept Trevor Lawrence clean.  Even the petty haters of the O-Line have to sit back and acknowledge that this line can get the job done against most teams.    

Great game by the O-Line!!!

Agreed on the running game. Would rather see more power formations with twin TE sets featured predominately.

Would give us some nice play action options as well.

Getting a nice early look at next year’s starting OL now that Cam looks to be out for a while. They looked good on pass pro from what I noticed.

As others have said, amazing how giving Trevor some time results in a more explosive offense

I think they like the Hodges kid to be around for a few years. He seemed to move the pile in preseason, so I'd like to get him back healthy with a year at the training table for next year's camp.

Like I've been saying since November of 2022 - draft a center that can play guard, or a guard that can play center and let camp competition and/or injuries sort out the eventual lineup. 

Some drafts have 2 or 3 guys like that. This one is not looking so good thus far in this area. 

If Scherff can stay healthy and Cleveland is what we think... maybe Fortner starts to look better being bookended with quality guards.

Depends on how the combine shakes out and where they get slotted in the draft. I still think Sedrick Van Pran is a name to watch on the opening night of the draft. 

He can very easily be an upgrade over Fortner at Center in my opinion. I would move Fortner to RG and start letting him get repetitions to replace Scherff in 2025.

Fortner has four years of experience at guard Vs. his now two and a half years of combined starting experience between Kentucky and here at center. He's just not strong enough to open up lanes in the running game.

I still think they need to draft a Guard, another Swing Tackle potentially to compete with Cooper Hodges next summer and they need to walk out of free agency if possible with Cleveland brought back and probably another starting caliber player. There's some solid free agents next year at Center that are upgrades over Fortner.
